Along with my mom, I went around the house, serving the food I had taken my precious time and efforts to cook.
Fortunately for me, despite my mediocre cooking skills, at least I thought they were mediocre, the guests seemed to like it as they nodded in approval after each bite.
There were no complaints whatsoever so I was content in the knowledge that I hadn't cooked something inedible and potentially poisonous.
I had never cooked food on such a large scale before and without the help and guidance of my mother, it took a while before I could calm my nerves and apply my natural intelligence in the making of the spicy Jollof rice with fried and boiled beef, chicken and plantains, along with a small stew for garnishing.
The preparation of the stew and frying of the meats and plantain were easy enough and didn't take any time at all.
However, the task I found most difficult was the cooking of the Jollof rice.
