I was immediately reminded of my love for beauty pageants.
I spent most of my childhood watching the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria beauty pageant; my mouth opened in awe at their beautiful cultural costumes and dinner gowns, laughing heartily when one of the girls failed to answer an obvious question correctly.
My laugh came out again this time when one of the contestants who was also my coursemate, failed a simple question that even a primary school student could answer.
"Who was the first executive president of Nigeria?" The MC asked, reading out the question from the bunch of flashcards in his hands.
"Uhm– I think it's… I'm not too sure though." She scratched her head in thought.
Ugochi tried mouthing the answer to her but she was facing another direction as she fumbled to answer.
"Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe?" She said uncertainly.
"Is that your final answer?" The MC asked, a stoic expression on his face.
