Zera and Xavier sat several inches apart. Neither of them talked about what had happened. To kill the awkward tension that brewed before dinner could start, Xavier searched for a bottle of wine.
They sat on the living room couch, staring at the city outside.
Zera wasn't interested in the wine, though. Her thoughts and her heart were still racing and beating like crazy.
"So," Xavier finally broke the silence. He cleared his throat. "What's the plan?"
Zera shrugged. She let her tensed muscles relax before finally gathering the courage to look at Xavier.
"No plan," she murmured. "But seriously, I couldn't decipher what brought us here."
"If you can't figure it out, I have a lesser chance at that."
"How unfortunate,' Zera clicked her tongue. She watched the stars twinkle every time she moved her head to one side.
