"You're crazy," Sharmaine hissed. They were hiding inside a closet. The space wasn't enough to allow them to move around.
Hence, they were standing so close that they were touching skin to skin.
Jaspreth could feel Sharmaine's nerves. Her heartbeat was unsteady as it beat against her chest.
"Sshh," Jaspreth put a finger on his lips. They were not yet out of harm's way. In fact, they were still dangerously close.
Sharmaine sprained her ankle. Although Jaspreth had already fixed the problem so it won't swell, she wasn't capable of running.
They wouldn't be able to escape if they went on with her limping.
Holding her breath, Sharmaine silently fumed.
Jaspreth knew how she was mad at him because he wouldn't listen to leaving her behind. Jaspreth could never do that.
They listened to the sound of footsteps. Probably more than five people were running around and searching the entire building.
