Zera cursed at the Croxine. It was no longer just lazily lumbering but had called its minions. Zera and Xavier found themselves running again.
To keep a reasonable distance, Zera stayed at the back and constantly swung the sword to keep the mini versions of the Croxine from catching up to them.
Xavier was trying not to grimace. He couldn't distract Zera by making a pained face and bear the pain until they were no longer on the brink of danger.
"Go away, you ugly beast!" Zera hissed. They barely started their day, and then this happened. She glanced at Xavier and knew he must be suffering at that moment. Said suffering couldn't be seen on his face, but Zera saw the slight wince every time they needed to pick up speed.
Pulling out the gun that releases an orb-like bullet, Zera felt she had no choice but to fire it. They would be facing Xenon, whether they like it or not, sometime later.
