Jaspreth touched his lips. He grimaced and then chuckled.
"Damn, Z. You really have a good punch."
Zera hissed. She dragged the latter to sit on the chair. They were able to distract the gathered crowd as much as they could. The three were able to make it inside the adjacent building while Zera and Jaspreth had to pretend they called it quits, stomping their way in opposite directions.
They met back at Zera's place to retrieve her things and patch up the cut on his lips. Jaspreth had to spit out the remnants of the food coloring he hid.
His lips did have a cut. But for an added effect, he thought of exaggerating the punch's impact with food coloring bursting inside his mouth when Zera's hand connected with his cheek.
"For what it's worth, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hit hard."
Jaspreth licked his lips and flinched a little.
"Nah, it's fine." There was a pause. Zera dabbed an ointment on his cut, trying to be gentle.
