"He-help!" It was a faint sound. "Help!" which eventually turned into something Zera could no longer deny hearing.
She couldn't recognize the voice. But something in that desperate plea told her the person calling out needed help indeed.
"It's coming from one of the rooms," Beatrix concluded. She and Zera exchanged glances.
It could be any of their friends.
They weren't familiar with Sharmaine. There was that possibility. However, Zera knew Jaspreth would never let anything happen to her. That much she could guarantee.
So who could it be, and what was going on?
Zera and Beatrix sat still, listening for another sound.
"Could it be Eros?" Beatrix suggested. Zera knew it wasn't that far off theory.
"She must be crying the pain off of her chest. If I were in her shoes, I might do the same."
"Me too." There was another round of silence. The two friends contemplated what they were to do next.
