"For the love of–" Zera muttered, needing to hold on to something as the house shook with so much fervor, she almost imagined the entire thing being removed from its hinges.
She had chosen to lie on the floor, clutching the edge of the bed while it stood unmoving. Eros's body rattled on top, together with the books the culprit had used to stack them carefully around her.
Beatrix had held on to the other side of the bed, keeping her balance as she closed her eyes.
The room shifting left the two friends in a little daze.
When things calmed down, they both remained where they were, holding their breaths and trying to overcome the swirling of their surroundings.
"We need to get out of here," Zera stated. She inspected the corpse for one last time before getting back to her feet.
"Where to? Left or right?"
Zera shrugged. She had yet to recover from the sudden shaking of the ground.
"Let's figure out where we have landed first."
