"Ok. I will marry you when I grow up." Before Coram's mom could react, Coram had already given an answer
Coram's mom opened her mouth wide.
'It looks like I also haven't taught my son enough'
**Flashback ended**
She has been by his side all along, she's been in love with him for a long time since they were kids, but he's never noticed her before, even if he had, he just seems to ignore her feelings. He's locked his heart up ever since his mother left and all those years he has been disappointed by his Father, the only family he had left. This was the first time that he seemed so easy to read.
"SuSu it's you" Coram smiled goofly.
Susan was stunned this was the first time in a long that that he had called her by her nickname, she tries hard to ignore the butterfly fluttering in her stomach. She loves the way he pronounces her name. After what happened to him years back, he insisted on calling her by her full name as it is more professional and she didn't insist on it. She was probably the only one that can boast of closeness with him.
"Are you alright?" Susan asked again.
"Me?" Coram pointed at himself. "I have never felt better, my brother is working in the hospital as an assistant now... haha"
Coram laughed happily.
"He's suffering, even if it's just a little bit... why should I not be happy?"
"Liar" Susan could see the pain and hurt in his eyes, he wasn't happy at all. When he told her he was going to his Father's house, she kind of suspected this to happen, so she looked after him for days after that day, but he seemed fine to her, she wouldn't have thought he was keeping it all bottled up in his heart.
"I didn't think you still care for his approval and acknowledgment." Susan murmured.
"What did you say?" Coram was about to take a gulp out of his drink, only to find out it wasn't in his hands anymore. He looked at the cause, and tried to take it back from her.
"Give it back" Coram said but seeing Susan's fierce look, he added cutely, "Pleassseeee"
Susan's heart melted right there, she almost gave in but then she steeled her heart and dropped some bills on the counter.
"Ma'am, you don't need to pay. It's on the house." Nick quickly added, she might be the lady boss in the future, this was the best time to suck up to her.
But instead of what Nick expected his nice words to do, it achieved quite the opposite effect.
'Ma'am? Do I look like an old lady?' Susan thought as she looked at herself. She gets that she always dresses so uptight all the time, covering all... but it was because Coram once said that he hated ladies who show off more flesh.
"I said I want to pay and I will. If this is the way you act to all customers that come in, won't this business fall through?!" Susan spoke sternly at poor Nick, though the reason she was so pissed was because of the title that he used to address her.
'What did I say wrong?' Nick was perplexed.
"Let's go Coram" Susan pulled Coram up and moved towards the door. Her tiny build contrasted against the man's bigger build.
As she got to the passenger's side of her car, she struggled to open the door. She finally rested Coram's back against the car before she could successfully open up the door.
'Now to get him in' She thought as she pulled him away from the car, but that just made him fall towards her.
Susan froze. She could feel his breathe on her neck as her own breathing turned irregular.
She pulled herself together from the excitement of having her long- time crush rest against her and reminded herself that it was just because he was drunk and doesn't know what he was doing.
With that she successfully placed him on the seat and closed the car door. Then she went over to the driver's side and got in. She buckled her seatbelt and looked at Coram and moved to the same for him. She could hear her own heartbeat as she moved closer and closer to him. She placed her hands on the seatbelt preparing drag it down, but she made a mistake of looking down, she immediately got caught up with Coram's beautiful features. She froze when she noticed that her lips were near Coram's cheek. She wondered oh she could just give him a peck on the cheeks, knowing this kind of opportunity might never come again.
"It's just a peck, it's not as if I'm molesting him, right? And I can just take it as a reward for helping him out." Susan just kept making excuses to make herself less guilty as she inched closer to Coram.
But things like this never go the way we expect, do they?
As she closed her eyes and inched closer to his right cheek, so close that she could hear his own heartbeat overlapping hers and she could smell the Vodka off him. Coram who suddenly felt discomfort on how his head was positioned tilted his head to the right making Susan's lips land in his instead.
Susan froze in that position, while screaming her her mind, 'What the hell just happened?!'
Susan hurried got off him, dragged his seatbelt all the way, buckled it and sat back in her seat, she placed her hands on her lips as a blush rushed up her cheeks, and licked her lips, looked at his pouted lips and wondered how his mouth tastes like.
'Probably like vodka' Susan thought.
"Ohhh... is it just me or is it getting hotter in here?" Susan fanned herself with her hands, as she started the car and drove off.
"Wait! I don't even know where he lives now... well I'll just take him to mine. It's his fault for being so secretive with his life." Susan muttered as she drove to the direction of her place.
"Finally, so he...avy" Susan said taking deep breaths with Coram against her. She changed into her house slip-ons and walked into her apartment.
Her apartment was cozy and home-like, it showed that the owner of the house was still a bachelorette. Susan's eyes gazed through the couch, she thought,
'It would be quite uncomfortable for him to lay on that small couch.'
So she walked towards the bedroom, and laid Coram on the bed.
Coram's eyes fluttered open and looked around, before he finally focused his eyes on Susan.
"SuSu?"
Coram called out slowly and unsure.
"Yes, it's me. Wait ok? I'll go get you something for your hangover" Susan said as she moved to stand but she was dragged back by Coram.
Susan froze as she was hugged by Coram, just in a day she had experienced many firsts with Coram. She prayed that her rapidly beating heart will not jump out of her ribcage.
"Please, don't leave me" Coram said so softly that if Susan wasn't near him she couldn't have heard it. Susan felt something stirring in her heart, this was the first time since the day his mother left, seeing him so... small and insecure.
Susan gently stroke Coram's hair and said to him softly, "I will never leave you, I just want to get an hangover soup for you"
Susan gently but firmly disengaged herself from Coram's hold, she placed her glasses on the bed side table before finally leaving for the kitchen. She came back with a bowl of hot soup in her hands.
She placed the soup on the table while she tried to sit Coram up.
"Coram, sit up and drink this."
"Hot... I feel so hot and uncomfortable" Coram murmured loud enough for Susan to hear him.
"You'd feel much better after you drink this soup"
Coram did not seem to hear her as he moved to unbutton his shirt by himself.
"Coram! What are you doing?" Susan placed her hands over his to stop his movements, for the nth time today, another blush crawled up her cheeks.
Coram brushed her hands off and continued to undress... this time Susan couldn't stop him. The shirt came off, and Coram was left with only one layer of clothing, Susan could see his nimples peeking out of his clothes.
Her face became redder than it already was, "Gosh... I feel hot too. Could it be that the A.C. is malfunctioning?" Susan questioned as she continued muttering, "I have to get someone to look into it soon"
As Susan was about to stand up from the bed to get the soup, her sleeve was tugged firmly and she was pinned to the bed by Coram.
To Coram, Susan was an adorable little kitten, with her disheveled hair and pouted lips.
"S..o Cu...t..e" Coram dragged out the last word as he looked at the 'kitten' beneath him.
Susan held her breath as she looked at a perfect body a man could ever have towering over her. She found it hard to maintain her sanity in this situation she seemed to have gotten herself into.
