On a sandy floor, a baby boy was born, who would soon be named Shaan. Freshly out of the womb Shaan was taken into custody by his uncle, Shaaq. Who was a tradesman and would move around for long periods of time. Shaaq had a tough time keeping up with Shaan as he got older and knew how to walk. Shaan would run around mindlessly while Shaaq chased him. He would giggle and laugh, so would his uncle, even though he hated it. After Shaaq caught Shaan he would pluck his lips and tell him, "Be a good boy, Shaan." Shaaq would describe Shaan as a curious boy, by the age of 3 he was reading poems from books on his uncle's bookshelf. Poems about different countries outside of India. About America and Canada. By the age of 4 he finally understood what most of the words and sayings in the books meant. Shaan would run around mindlessly more, but this time saying, "The British are coming! The British are coming!" from a book about Paul Revere. Shaan's Grandmother said once, "What book taught a 4-year-old English? I can't even learn it myself; He must be a clever boy." Shaan's Uncle replied, "Yes. What book taught a 4-year-old English? He is clever but that knowledge does nothing for you over here. He needs to be a man, and not read all those books. He needs to learn how to survive in the working world." --- When Shaan turned 5 him and his uncle escaped to Pakistan through an old friend of his uncles. In India there was a hate against Sikhism people. Unfortunately, Shaan's family is Sikh. Even though the genocide against Sikh people ended the year Shaan was born, people still hated Sikh's people and would commit smaller crimes against them. That would include homicide, rape, and robbery.
