(A Few Days Later)
"Nii-chan! Wake up! It's the big day already!" said Shiro as his voice awoken me from my deep slumber.
I yawned while rubbing my eyes and looked at Shiro who was sitting on top of my stomach. "Good morning."
"Good morning!" said Shiro as he got off my stomach, got out of my room, leaving me alone in my room draped in the shadows.
"Sigh," I said and turned on the lights with the clap of my hands, and looked at my phone.
"I guess this is it, the day of enrolling for Hope Academy," I said while rubbing my head in uncertainty.
"Let's go," I said in an unenthusiastic tone and got out of my room and went inside the bathroom to take a shower early because the enrollment process is starting this morning.
In a few minutes, I finished my shower and went back to my room to don on new clothes, and rushed downstairs to have breakfast.
"Are you ready Aki?" asked my father who was munching on some bread muffling his voice in the process.
"Eh, I think I'll be fine, I just need to show I am good with my Gift right?" I asked my father for the nth time as he rolled his eyes.
"Yes Aki, you just need to show them you are great with your Gift and just do your best," said my father as he finishes his slice of bread and went on to take another one.
"Okay," I said and went on to hastily eat my food and in just a few minutes, all of us finished our meals, and my father, mother, and brother took their turns taking a shower and before I knew it, everyone was ready to go towards Hope Academy.
"Let's go!" said Shiro who entered the backseat of the car and followed him from behind.
Then my father got on the driver's seat while my mother sat on the chair beside my father.
As we all finally got in the car, my father turned it on with some bio scans like facial recognition, and just like that, we got out of our house and started to go towards Hope Academy.
"Are you scared nii-chan?" asked Shiro who sat beside me while I scrolled through my phone.
"I'm not scared, your nii-chan is brave right?" I said towards Shiro with a smile while patting his head.
"Mmm!" said Shiro with a nod as we did our own thing until we reached the vicinity of Hope Academy.
"Here we are, Hope Academy," said my father as he parked the car right in front of Hope Academy and saw how large the campus was, with wide-open fields of grass, buildings that looks like malls, large gardens filled with flowers, and more, and that's just from a faraway glance, imagine how grand it would be if you actually get to learn here.
With that, we walked towards the admission hall for Hope Academy and saw tons of people my age walking about with their own unique appearances, like the guy with wings and horns.
"You excited to learn here? The campus is basically a city on its own right now with its sheer size" said my father who patted me from the back while my mother took some family pictures with us.
"Woah! I also want to enroll here next year!" said Shiro from the side as his eyes sparkled in awe.
"Hehe, that's why you should study hard like your brother," said my mother while patting Shiro on the head.
"Well enough chit-chatting, we're already here," said my father as we reached the admission hall and saw hundreds, perhaps thousands of other people like me, aspiring to get into Hope Academy.
With that, we entered the large building and did the normal signing process like name, Gift, and other stuff and with that, I got on my seat while my family waited outside and looked at the large open room filled with hundreds of examinees and saw that my test is already on my sit.
I hurriedly sat down and answered the questions without a problem because I'm quite talented in the mental department and in just a few minutes, I press submit on the hologram and saw my score was 98/100 which was decent enough for me and went to the next area where it is the Gift testing.
"Hello, Student Tanaka Akihiko right?" said a lady who went towards me as I nodded.
"Well the next test is just simple, you just need to show me your healing capabilities on that test dummy over there," said the lady as I nodded and looked around to see fellow examinees shooting balls of fire to the dummy, or making the dummy stronger, it all depends on what their Gift is.
I then looked at my dummy filled with bruises, cuts, wounds, and even some severed limbs, this is a dummy produced by the government itself that perfectly replicates a human body and how Gifts could affect them, it rapidly helped the human civilization to prosper with the help of this expensive training dummies.
I then slowly calibrated my healing potency to just regrow back the severed arm and watched the examiner beside me gasped in shock at how I regrew back the arm while acting like I had just lifted the heaviest of weights out there.
"Gasp!" said the examiner who hurriedly grabbed the regrown limb and saw that it functions perfectly down to the teeth and looked at me with shining eyes.
"Congratulations student Tanaka Akihiko, welcome to Hope Academy," said the examiner as I looked at her with a dumbfounded gaze, shouldn't it like take a few more days to look at the scores and more? Well, I the examiners could just do whatever they want I guess.
"T- thank you miss," I said with a smile while I wiped off my sweat from my forehead and watch her put on some Gtech Glasses, probably to sign me to the academy herself.
"You can go back home now, take care of yourself, we don't want to lose a valuable healer like you," said the lady as I nodded and got out of the building and saw my family looking around trying to find me.
"Aki!" said my father who found me from the horde of people waiting in front of the admissions hall as I rushed towards them.
"So, how was the test?" asked my mother.
"I got in!" I said to them with a wide grin.
"Huh?" said my mother in confusion.
"Don't the results come later?" asked my father with a raised eyebrow.
"The examiner who tested me said that I-" but as I was talking, I felt my phone vibrating and opened it and saw an email saying I got in for Hope Academy.
"Look!" I said towards them while showing my phone as they gasped in surprise.
"H- how!?" asked my mother in confusion.
"Well I was able to regrow back the limb of the dummy," I said with an innocent smile.
"Gasp!" said both my father and mother as they realized how much potential I have as a healer and took me into a tight hug while Shiro followed along.
"Hehe," I said with a smug grin as they chuckled and got out of the hug.
"Well let's go home now, we can have a celebratory feast tonight just for you," said my mother who looked at me with proud eyes.
"Really!" said Shiro with stars in his eyes.
"Yes, we can eat your favorite food tonight," said my mother as Shiro cheered from the side.
And with that, we walked out of the campus and it took us a few minutes which just shows how large the campus was as it already left Shiro out of breath.
"I told you, Shiro, you should work out just like your brother," said my father with a chuckle as we got on the car.
"Eh, but it would leave me too sweaty, and I could just make myself super strong with my Gift," said Shiro as a ball of light appeared in his hand.
"You're just lazy," I said to Shiro with a teasing smile while patting his head.
"Hey!" said Shiro who looked at me with a pouting face while my parents chuckled.
And as the car started to drive back home, I look out the window with a distant look and remembered when I healed the dummy, I felt what it was like to heal without sharing my soul because the dummy had no soul, it seems like I have another thing to train with this weird Gift of Healing that I have.
"So, do you guys want some ice cream?" asked my father as we stopped beside an ice cream store.
"Yeah!" we both said in excitement as my father chuckled and got out of the car and in just a few seconds, returned back holding three cones of ice cream and gave it to us and my mother as we happily went back home with our own ice cream to eat.
