Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Can You Climb a Tree

After walking for a day, Allen looked at the magic gem in his hand and sighed.

If Roger hadn't warned him repeatedly before he left, he would have thought that the magic gem in his hand was just a beautiful green stone.

Allen didn't even see anyone, let alone the people who took part in the competition with him.

However, he also encountered many traces of battle on the way.

There was silence.

The demonic beasts must have been scared away by the aftermath of these battles.

Allen didn't see any decent demonic beast, but only saw a few panicked wild boars.

Their skin was rough and thick, and it was not worth fighting with them. So Allen let them go.

Suddenly, Allen felt something was wrong. He looked up and saw the bushes in the distance were separated one by one.

It seemed that a flock of beasts came over at a very fast speed and walked quietly. If Allen was not vigilant, he wouldn't have found it.

Allen's face darkened.

"Winnie, don't run around. Hide behind me."

Allen grabbed Winnie's trembling arms.

It was not accurate to say that she was afraid. At this time, Winnie was completely frightened. Two fluffy little ears on her head kept trembling, and even the hair on her tail exploded.

"It's okay. Did you sense something?"

Allen comforted Winnie while dragging her to retreat. According to his experience, they met an old friend.

"Awoo..."

With a long howl, the first gray wolf had come out of the bushes.

There were still some grasses on his broad shoulders, and his fierce yellow eyes were staring at Allen.

But what scared Allen was not only the wolf but also the swaying bushes.

Soon, many gray wolves jumped out of the bushes, forming a semicircle, and approached the two of them.

Allen didn't care if it was one or two wolves, but it was a pack of wolves with complete cooperation.

If he made a mistake, he might end up in the mouth of a wolf. Allen thought for a while and decided not to take the risk.

The first gray wolf that appeared couldn't bear it anymore and attacked Allen fiercely.

Allen's eyes narrowed.

"Meow!"

"What?"

Before Allen could react, Winnie suddenly turned into a white cat and got into Allen's clothes.

The wolf in front of him had already jumped up. Allen waved his hand like a knife and directly chopped the wolf's neck heavily.

With the crisp sound of broken bones, the gray wolf suddenly collapsed to the ground, struggling a few times but unable to get up.

But the wolves were team animals. Although some of their companions were knocked down by Allen, they were not afraid at all. They rushed up in a hurry. There were also a few wolves, trying to bypass Allen and cut off his route of retreat.

Allen had no choice but to rush sideways as the route of retreat had been cut off.

The wolves didn't expect that Allen would dare to confront them. After losing a few companions, they were completely thrown away by Allen.

Looking at the green grass and the sunshine, Allen collapsed to the ground like a newborn baby.

In the distant forest, the green eyes began to decrease.

Unless they had no other choice, the wolves would not leave their territory too far to hunt their prey, the one which they were not sure to kill successfully.

The loss of too many wolves was not good for their survival.

"Meow!"

Winnie sensed the wolves' receding figure and got out of Allen's clothes. She looked warily in the direction of the forest, and then rubbed Allen's face with her fluffy head.

"Are you thanking me?"

Allen smiled bitterly.

"I can climb trees."

Winnie, the white kitten rolled her eyes.

"Then why didn't you climb the tree just now?"

Allen asked in surprise.

"I forgot."

"..."

Winnie's face seemed to be flushed.

"Forget it. By the way, where is this place? No one can let me ask..." Allen took a rest and stood up.

He took out a green magic gem and looked at it, but there was still no response. He could only walk towards a human village far away.

The villagers didn't like Allen, but fortunately, they didn't mind showing Allen the way.

Under the guidance of the villagers, Allen arrived at the city.

This was another territory of castellan.

It was not far from Will castellan's territory. It was blocked by Egleson, so it didn't circulate much.

Outside the city were all kinds of ragged vagrants, one by one dragging the elderly, children, carrying only luggage, numbly close to the city.

Allen, who had chased through the forest, was not different among the refugees.

The guard didn't make things difficult for them. He simply asked and let them in.

As soon as Allen entered the gate of the city, he was shocked by the scene in front of him. The street was full of people in rags, and rows of children knelt beside the street, asking for help from any passer-by who might be willing to give them a hand.

"What's going on? Why are there so many refugees here?" Allen grabbed a passer-by and asked.

The passer-by was originally angry, but when he looked at Allen carefully, he found that he was not a refugee who was in hot pursuit. His face softened a little.

"I don't know why. This group of guys ran to the city, and castellan kindly took them all. Alas, the food price in the city has increased a lot in the past two days."

This passer-by was obviously a resident of the city, but he also looked sad.

Now that he had gotten what he wanted, Allen didn't bother him anymore.

Suddenly, there was a noise in front of them. The crowd dispersed on both sides of the street, and a large group of refugees ran over.

Before Allen could react, he was carried to the roadside.

"A noble lord came to relieve the disaster, we do not have to worry about food."

"He's coming. He's coming..."

The shouts came one after another, which made Allen realize that some aristocrats wanted to give food to refugees.

Two rows of well-dressed knights riding high horses ran over valiantly.

Two white horses pulled a carriage over.

Suddenly, a scream came from the crowd.

Allen looked in that direction. A little boy passed out because he hadn't eaten for days.

Coincidentally, he fell just in front of the carriage.

The mud splashed and stained the coachman's clothes.

The cold attendant suddenly became furious. "Where does this bastard come from? He even stained my new clothes. Damn it!"

Then someone kicked the unconscious boy away.

How could the thin boy bear such a powerful kick? He spitted out blood in an instant.

Seeing that the servant was so domineering, the surrounding refugees dared not to say anything. Instead, they took a few steps back.

"You bitches deserve it even if you starve to death. You not only don't know how to be grateful but also stained my clothes. What a group of bitches!"

The attendant stood in the carriage, waving his whip and whistling.

The refugees around him all lowered their heads.

No one spoke for the poor little boy who had been kicked away.

But even so, the servant didn't intend to let the little boy go. The more he cursed, the angrier he became. Looking at the retreat of the surrounding refugees, he became more confident. He picked up the whip and was about to slap the little boy.

The surrounding refugees were appalled and fell back one after another.

"Clap!"

A crisp sound of whips sounded, but the little boy on the ground had disappeared.

The attendant looked up in astonishment and saw a young man holding the back collar of the little boy with one hand.

He held the back of the cat's neck with the other hand and stared at him coldly.

"He is just too hungry. He accidentally stained your clothes. You actually want his life. You are more than vicious!"

Allen had a heavy accent on the last word and spoke out everyone's true feelings.

The servant became angrier when he was offended by this young man who came out of nowhere.

For a moment, his face turned red.
