Hymine opened his eyes and blinked, his eyes slowly adjusted to the blinding light. He glanced at the clock on the dashboard. "W-what? how has so little time passed?" Hymine sputtered in his head, glancing over to his driving sister.
"You're finally awake!" Aneko cheered, "So, how did the results go? I already guessed, but maybe?" a hopeful look fueled with desperation glanced over to Hymine.
"I think that the results are inaccurate. I did just fully connect to my core making my smaller-than-average magic amount grow bigger. maybe I should do another?" Hymine thought. "My results said I have a small amount of magic in me. I di-" Hymine started, but Aneko shrieked.
"You did it! whoa! Sorry, I should focus on the road, but good job!" Akeno beamed, "My brother is the first magical person in our family!"
"It's all thanks to you," Hymine deflected, "If you hadn't trained me with my senses, I wouldn't've had any magic!"
"You give yourself too little credit. If I was the reason you had magic, I would have magic too!" Akeno's encouragement, but a faint tone of jealousy echoed through her phrase.
"You do have magic," Hymine stated, "In fact, I'm very sure everyone in our family has magic. When I felt for my magic, I reached my magic core, but when I reached for it, I was rejected touch by a magic rune. The only reason I do have magic, it because of when I was kidnapped. My magic forced its way through the rune with just a little strand to save my life. You remember there are two ways to activate your magic, either you have complete belief you have magic inside of you, or a life threatening event, that causes your magic to defend you. I believe all of us in our family have those runes to trap any magic we could ever use, but I luckily managed to break it with my thin connection."
Aneko had a shocked expression of her face, while she still drove the car. "Y-you mean we all have something that stops our magic development?" she stuttered, "But that means someone could use magic to break the rune!" her eyes shined at the thought, "We all might be able to have magic and not die!"
"I promise to get stronger. I'll get strong enough to break the rune on all of our family and kill the curse!" Hymine declared, "I'm going to practice sensing magic to get better at it."
"Ok, I'll keep quiet, so you can focus," Akeno affirmed. Hymine closed his eyes and opened his magic to his eyes. he flashed them open and glanced around. colored streams like wind in the air were everywhere.
Blues, greens, reds, oranges, pinks, yellows, and more floated in the air. Hymine was speechless. "I never knew it was all around us!" he thought. the car slowed for a stop light, so Hymine looked at some of the walking people. some had little light of different color. what shocked him the most was one of the people walking had a blazing bright orange light.
"Wow, She must be strong," Hymine thought. Right when the the car started to drive, the powerful person tensed her legs, and launched herself into the sky. Hymine turned over to Aneko to tell her about all of the wonderful magic, but was shocked when she was covered in purple.
If that other person's power was a blaze, then the purple suffocating Akeno could only be described as a supernova. the amount of power surrounding her was enough to destroy this planet in a second.
Hymine lifted his hands to his face only to see the same purple covering him. "Th-this is t-t-the curse?!?" Hymine stuttered, "How powerful would you have to be to excrude a curse so overwhelmingly suffocating?" goosebumps covered Hymine's entire body, as he stared, frozen stiff, at his hand."
The light in my hands faded slightly as a strand of the curse shot out to the moving truck on the opposite side of the street. Covering the entire truck.
"Aneko... drive away from that truck," Hymine mumbled.
"What was tha-"
"GET AWAY FROM THAT TRUCK!!!" Hymine fearfully screamed. shocking Aneko.
"O-ok," she said. She turned the car to make a u-turn, and drove away quickly. she glanced behind her and saw the truck had flipped over. "How did yo-" she began, but an explosion covered her words.
"Keep driving fast!" Hymine quavered, "the curse hasn't given up yet." Hymine saw a purple stream flying past them, landing in the path ahead of them. "Stop the car!" Hymine yelled. Akeno quickly pushed down on the breaks, bringing the car to a complete stop.
A few feet from the car, a golem emerged from the road. "we need to go... Now!" Hymine stated, opening the doors to the car, and running over to the other side. Aneko sat stunned in her seat.
"We're going to die... the curse has decide it's our time," Aneko murmured, emotionless. Hymine pulled his sister out of the car, and shook her.
"Get ahold of yourself! you aren't going to leave me to live without you. are you?" Hymine begged, shaking Aneko out of her shock.
"Don't worry, I wont ever leave yo-" Aneko began, but the heavy fist of the golem smashed any other words she would've said. her body became a pile of blood and broken bones, covering Hymine from head to shoe with her blood.
"A-Aneko?" Hymine quavered, as the golem lifted its big fist. Hymine collapsed to his knees. "AAAAAUUHHHHGGG!" Hymine cried to the sky, tears flooding his eyes. His grief flooded his system shutting off all senses except pain, loss, and sorrow.
While his mind had shut down, His magic had not. It sensed danger approaching his head, so his body was taken over by his magic's will to live, which Hymine had given it ten years ago.
The golem smashed the second fleshbag and lifted its fist, but unlike the other one, there was no explosion, confusing it. The golem turned and saw the other fleshbag had moved to the side, so it lifted its fist to repeat the action.
Hymine glared at the stone giant, and ran towards it Screaming his rage and loss out at the emotionless block. The golem stared its fist's decent, when a blast of power knocked through it, destroying its core.
Hymine watched as a hole appeared through the golem's chest, and it slowly fall backwards. A figure landed next to the Golem, and walked towards Hymine. he reached out to the figure, but, sensing all the danger was gone, the magic core gave him back complete control, making him faint from exhaustion: emotional, physical, and mental.
