I opened my eyes to a roof that was unfamiliar to me. I was used to seeing the dull gray of my apartments ceiling, and watching the fan spin. Now what I saw was a bright white color made of a material I couldn't recognize. Granted I wasn't a carpenter or construction worker of any sort so I don't think I could remember many kinds of material, I was just pretty sure I hadn't seen it before as it was unnaturally smooth to the point it could be tile. No what I do is a lot simpler, I code. Specifically I make games on the side while working as an IT specialist for a decently sized company. Bringing my thoughts back to the present I sat up, the bed I was on was also different, significantly more uncomfortable then the one in my apartment. I spent a few moments breathing heavily whilst feeling panic course through my body, eventually I took a final breath and calmed myself, I couldn't do anything without information. I got up and looked around the room looking for hints as to what was going on.
After a few minutes of searching I compiled what I had found out: first, this was a student dorm, I knew based on the schedule I found which had mathematics and a few other subjects with vague names like "basics 2" or "Training", and at the end of the schedule it was written to return to the dorm. And since I found the schedule here whoever owned it was probably the person that lived here. For what school I couldn't figure out. Second, this dorm belonged to a underachiever named Prab, it didn't take much more then a rummage through what looked like a basket full of trash to figure that out. A bunch of letters from teachers telling the student to put more effort in cluttered the top. The name was definitely foreign but I had no clue from where. Some more papers reviled that most of the vague classes had to do with a concept known as "The voices". Which was...ominous. The final piece of evidence was discovered while thinking about the previous ones. I saw a small luxurious looking hand mirror, grabbing it I looked at the face reflected in it. While my expression was one I recognized, that was it. This wasn't my face. I wasn't in my body.
The expression I was looking at remained unchanged, a blank sort of serious face. It was an aspect of myself many found annoying. Don't get me wrong, I was panicking like crazy right now. But as always my face remained neutral. I found it difficult to change my expression to fit my mood, and since it would take extra effort to do so I left my neutral expression as it was for the most part. Emotions and people weren't my strong suit, computers and logic, that's where I thrive. Speaking of logic, I was desperately grasping for some semblance of it right now. Taking some more deep breaths to calm my self down I remembered the words of a famous detective from a book I had read. "When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth". Thus started the prosses of elimination. The first thing that came to mind was a dream, but the fact that I could even think that removed the possibility in the first place also the discomfort I felt on the bed earlier and a small testing pinch to my arm solidly removed that. The next was a more fantastical explanation, I was reincarnated, or transported considering my lack of death. This was... unfortunately a possibility. While I wanted to discard the theory due to its sheer improbability, that wasn't part of the quote. I didn't understand everything about the universe, so I had no way to absolutely disprove the presence of another world or the ability to move someone from one world to another. I shuffled it away mentally as a last answer, if nothing else made sense. Speaking of nothing else the only other possibility seemed to be I was in someway kidnapped, had plastic surgery done to me, and was dumped into a random school dorm. This one was also firmly in the improbable category. No one really had the motive to do something like that to me, I wasn't exactly a social person nor the type to cause grudges. It was always easier to just apologize, even if something wasn't your fault.
With my head slightly hurting from thinking to much I sighed and rubbed my forehead and muttered to myself "Why couldn't I just be dealing with statistics instead". Immediately after saying as much something appearing in front of me made me jump back slightly, it was a blue 2d screen floating in front of him

This, wasn't something that could be created with plastic surgery. Recalling the only other option I let out a long sigh punctuated with a curse.
