Chapter 3 - Prolouge end

Arlo ran through the dimly lighted tents, the sky seemed to be taunting him with the twilight.

Suddenly Arlo ran into the memory of his mother and father having an argument with him sometime before the attack.

"Arlo, your brother is special, of course you are too…" His mothers caring words made him flinch while he ran without knowing where Aldis was.

"İ know."

"Then you must know what Aldis has that makes us tend to worry about him more." His father stated while trying to put on his old chainmail armor.

"İ know."

"People will try to tear you apart from each other. Don't allow them, Arlo!" The father seemed to be calming himself rather than instructing Arlo.

"İ won't."

"Then there is no need for us to worry anymore…" his mother stopped for a bit, "We just want you and Aldis to be safe from the dangers of this world…" She seemed gloomy.

Arlo couldn't remember what was said or done after that. He noticed that he was approaching a bigger tent than the other ones.

'This should be it.' he thought. 'İ should grab Aldis and run, run away as far as i can…'

"ARLO!" Arlo froze in place.

"ARLO! HELP" Aldis's voice

Hundreds of possibilities flew through Arlos mind.

Arlo ran into the tent. The things he witnessed scarred him. Aldis, tied and being raped by the duchess. His left arm skinned while he was still alive. Blood everywhere.

The tears came uncontrollably. Arlo tightened his grip and approached the duchess.

Someone once said bravery was to know when to take a creature's life.

'Don't care if it's bravery or not…' Arlo thought. His mind seemed to be flooded with the horrible sight of the state his brother was in. 'You were supposed to protect him…' His father's words echoed.

"Arlo…" "Ah come on hun, do you really think he will come?" The duchess made a little jump while still raping Aldis.

"Ah! desperation… it always suits younger people like you…" Arlo felt his blood boiling…

He gripped the sword tighter and raised it over the duchess.

While he was bringing the sword down he roared in rage. "You… YOU BİTC- ARGH!"

The sword Arlo had clanged while it hit the floor.

"Oho! something that suits youngsters even more! Hate…"

Arlo slowly looked at the silver blade that was coming out of his chest.

The crimson blood painted his vision to a greyish version. Paladin Risen took her sword out of Arlo and made him fall to his knees.

"A-Arlo?" Aldis wasn't able to understand what had happened.

"Arlo, I can't see. İt's too dark…" Aldis said. 'The- They blinded him." Arlo felt air through his wound.

The tent spinned around him.

He noticed a bad stench in the tent. "My duchess!" Sorcerer spoke.

"He died!" Arlo slowly looked to Aldis, time was flowing slower.

"Well, so few were able to endure this much." The Duchess said in disgust.

Arlo wasn't feeling his body anymore, only grief and sadness was in that place.

"Throw the body of the boy into a ditch…" He heard distinctly. "What about the subject?"

"Fool! İ find pride in my lovers, even after death." She put on a dress.

"He will come back with me…" Arlos wission faded away while the sounds of people talking became really distant.

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Cold.' Arlo thought.

"İt wouldn't be if you saved Aldis."

'Cold.'

"He was very special."

'Cold.'

Arlos body floated in the ice cold river.

Maybe the river was only in his mind?

Maybe these were all just a dream? No it couldn't. Right?

The black water lingered around the empty nostril holes of his.

His carcass had its bones visible with some flesh still rotting.

'COLD…'

"Such a poor soul…" A distant voice echoed.

"What made you stay with that body in this place?" The voice sounded husky and dry of emotions.

"Come with me… To your vengeance and salvation awaits…"
