Chapter 26 - CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX: YOU GAVE ME A FAMILY

As a mother, she had failed and lost what belonged to her. She had disappointed her own daughter and the country of Grematoria at large.

Evening…

"Hey guys, we need to get going!" Lina called out.

Valerie walked out holding hands with the girls as the boys followed. Hutson got out of the car and stood by Lina's side.

"Are we dropping you home?" Hutson asked Valerie.

"Not really. I have somewhere else to go." She said.

"Somewhere else? A date?" Lina asked.

"No, not a date. The second in command called me." Valerie said.

"You mean Adriel? Are you two dating?" Carly looked up and asked. Everyone burst out laughing.

"No, actually, it's about business issues."

"Kids, get into the car first." Hutson helped them in before turning back to Valerie.

"Valerie are you seriously talking about business with Adriel? You aren't working at the Finlay company. This whole theory is suspected." Hutson laughed.

"well, I once worked at State Azaan company and was a close friend to Rhea. So, if Adriel needs my help, am ready to offer it. After all we aren't enemies." Valerie said. "See you guys." Off she went.

Hutson and Lina exchanged looks before smiling meaningfully. Then they entered the car and drove off.

At Adriel's place of residence…

In his simple shirt and trousers, Adriel walked out of the kitchen and went into his room to have bath and get prepared. He wasn't too fond of meeting strangers but today he had personally invited Valerie over.

His phone beeped just when he was done with dressing. Looking neat, he walked out of his house and went out.

"Welcome where I stay." He said.

"Second in command, am privileged to be here." She smiled.

"It's a small place but I enjoy being here. Feel welcomed." Adriel said.

"Thank you." Valerie sat down. "By the way, congratulations on your new rank Adriel."

"Thank you. I always feel sad when I realize that am celebrating a raise in rank with no parent to be cheer me up." He said.

"Adriel, at least you have the Finlays ok? They love you and value you as their own child. You're Kiaan's brother and no one can change that. So, don't feel sad. You have a family."

"Leave that, how was work today?"

"Work was fine. I really want to always see the new things the children come up with. I was told that Kiaan would visit the company soon." She said.

"Kiaan isn't someone who will sit back and wait to be fed just because he is sick. Am sure he might show up at the company tomorrow morning. Besides, mom said he wanted to visit home." Saying mom, he referred to Briella who was now his only surviving lady figure he could call mom.

"I guessed that."

Valerie didn't talk much. They shared a meal and Adriel helped her back to her residence place.

CRYSTAL ESTATE

After supper, the family sat together in the living room with the children giving account of what happened during the day.

"Dad, today we received an email from the president of Grematoria. His highness Mr. Blake wants to book a day to have us design a ring for his wife." Rex said.

"His wife? Didn't they get married long time ago?" Kiaan asked.

"Probably they were but there is an anniversary ring remember? Besides, this is also a better chance to have our family company promoted. Am sure if the president likes it, he'll have the whole world knowing about it." Henry said.

"Dad, tomorrow you're visiting the company, right?" Carly asked.

"Yes. When will the president be showing up?" Kiaan asked.

"We haven't replied to the email yet. We're thinking of a week or two form now." Harris said.

"Why? Are you all tied up or what? How many orders do you have in queue so far?" Rhea asked.

"Many. Not just rings and necklace. Many came for wedding outfits and many more orders in store already."

When the girls started playing with their teddy bears and toys, the big boys were drawing outlines of their next day's works. Rex and Ray, the redhaired twins were in their room playing cards.

Rhea and Kiaan remained seated in the living room. Kiaan was already dozing off while Rhea was admiring the godly face. She also understood that being sickly, he needed rest.

"Thank you Kiaan." Rhea murmured slowly but Kiaan opened his eyes and looked at her.

"For what?" He asked.

"For everything. For giving me such a beautiful family. For being the man in my dream and in my real life. For making me realize there is more beyond the family wing. Making me a strong woman." Rhea said.

"am the one supposed to thank you because you stood by me all that while. I now know that some people still need me." Kiaan said smiling.

"It's time for rest now."

Morning…

Lina woke up earlier and prepared for breakfast while Hutson helped the little boys to get dressed. Kiaan wasn't up and no one went to disturb him. Rhea came out of the girls' room with the two girls holding form both sides of her. The rest were in the dining hall waiting.

After breakfast, Hutson, Lina and the boys walked out first.

"Meet at the company!" Ray waved.

"What about you girls?' Rhea asked.

"We'll be going with the two of you." Camila said.

"Why? Is there a problem going with your brothers?" Rhea asked.

"Mommy there is nothing wrong. Just get everything ready." Carly said while running inside almost knocking off Kiaan who was heading towards the door with his walking stick. "Am sorry daddy."

"Good morning my girl." Kiaan greeted.

"Good morning daddy."

After Rhea and Kiaan took their breakfast, they both in their respective rooms to get prepared. When Rhea got out, she was in a grey business suit. Kiaan was in a black suit.

"Mommy take this. Dad, here. Get changed." Camila handed them different well sealed parcels.

"What's wrong with our mode of dressing?" Kiaan asked.

"Actually, there is nothing wrong but that wasn't in today's plan. Today is a special day because it's the first day daddy is vising his own company so everything must be unique." Carly explained

When they came out of the house, Rhea was in a pink dress with pieces of diamonds hanging from the neckline. Her heels were one of its type designed by her own girls, transparent with distant traces of well-designed pearls that shone when she walked. Her hair hung freely with few strands hanging in her left side of the face, exactly the same way the girls arranged their hair.

Derek was already waiting outside long after he was told to go pick up the family.

"Get in mommy." In her simple pink dress, Carly opened the car door for Rhea while Camila opened the door for Kiaan.

This is more of a heaven I wished for all my life. Rhea thought as she smiled at Carly and entered the car.
