pov: Narrator
In a small island located on a volcano far from the rest of the four great continents, the people who live in that place, are completely different from the rest, with a purpose, with a function to fulfill.
But even so, after the passing of the years, the path was lost, the peace and tranquility returned to the conflicts of yesteryear and made everyone begin to hate each other.
The war between Elves and Orcs started again, the Humans never helped and were marginalized by the rest, although they always thought of themselves as the dominant and the strongest, so deep inside they always waited to attack the other races.
The half-humans were marginalized again, hiding, since the Humans began to enslave them, for the Elves they are too repugnant to go to their sacred lands, on the other hand the Orcs are in constant war and prefer not to get in the middle of a senseless war.
Of the Dragons no one knew for the rest of their lives, they said they were outraged after the Elven royalty hunted and executed the Ice Elf species for participating in the war and being part of a union not consented to by the King of the Elves.
The Orcs mourned their fallen and went to the rescue of the beloved of their Chief, although they did not achieve that task, they only got their other tribal chiefs to be executed including the Captain of the blood, who was executed in public.
History was covered in blood, in a short time, no one valued the sacrifices made, everyone thought that war was just a myth, but the myth was now back.
pov: William
"without a last name, without a mother, without a father, without anything.."
letting out the hatred built up in me, the annoyance and even the pain, I looked up at the sky from the hill where I used to look at the sky, the hill where dragons were said to have first touched land thousands of years ago.
"have nothing?"
but a voice stirred my thoughts.
"who are you?"
Confused, I looked around without seeing anything, but the voice spoke again.
"I don't know, I always watch it here."
"Are you always here?"
Confused, I looked around the place, but found no one, until a cold hand touched mine.
Turning my gaze quickly I could see her, her height is even shorter than mine, maybe she is around five or six years old, dark hair, black eyes, pale skin with a lost look.
"who are you?"
I wasn't afraid, but it caused me compassion to see her like this, her clothes torn, her feet raw.
-she must have walked barefoot all her life-
"Nina."
She just answered that and turned her gaze to the sky.
Watching her in that state, I clenched my fist and decided something.
"Come on, I'll take you to a place where you'll be fine."
"that place doesn't exist, they are already singing."
a cold sweat ran down my back, the howling of dogs filled the place.
"let's go"
but I decided not to pay attention, I promptly took the girl in my arms and ran back to the orphanage, where the nuns could help us.
the sound of metal in the air, sulfur stinging my nose, as the mist slowly began to descend.
"Weapons!"
"Call out to the continents!"
I ran around the place, listening to the others become alarmed, as adults drew their weapons and others prepared the ships to set sail.
"what 's going on?"
Nina asked me but I didn't answer. I just hugged her hiding her head in my chest, as I ran to the door of the orphanage.
"sister!"
I opened the door fiercely looking for someone but the place was completely empty.
"Jasmine?"
"Lucas?"
"Antoni?"
"Lucia?"
I called the various names of the people who took care of us but no one answered.
"Wait for me here"
I left her on a bench in the room, while looking around for bandages and various medicines to heal the wounds on Nina's feet.
Until that thing passed by my sight, a four-barrelled gun forged by magic stones, without taking much hesitation I took it and carried it with me to heal Nina.
"what is that?"
she curiously asked as she saw me coming but I just smiled at her, while with alcohol I wiped her feet.
"Does it hurt?"
I asked calmly, as I continued cleaning her wounds and bandaging them.
"that'll make it better, is that better?"
"it hurts, but thank you"
"you'll be better."
I sat down next to her and started stroking her hair.
from outside you can hear the voices of thousands of women singing, as Nina snuggled into my chest with tears in her eyes.
"they're coming!"
The singing filled the place.
a tender and calm voice spread through the place, while the sound of steel filled the place.
The chanting didn't stop, as the piercing screams filled the air, the sound of steel against flesh, water hitting the ground.
"what's going on outside?"
my hands were shaking, but I had to hold myself together, Nina was sobbing into my chest, as I shook wildly.
"they come"
"they are coming"
she repeated incessantly, over and over again.
I swallowed my breath and took her in my arms with the gun tucked in my pants.
I ran, banging on the door, towards the port without turning around.
She looked me in the eye, but I just smiled at her without stopping running.
My bare feet began to bleed from running over broken glass without stopping, the screams, the sound of flesh being torn, steel and fire, the smell of sulfur and smoke all around, all spreading around.
Until I reached the last boat, where a group of men were firing at the approaching creatures.
"children?"
"get them up quickly, we must evacuate."
The bearded man, who had his hands with dark blood on them, grabbed us by one arm and pulled us abruptly up.
"Hide in the back, we are about to zarpa..!"
At that moment a gargoyle burst through and completely tore the man's body apart, killing him instantly.
"ahg!"
The scream covered the deck, the others couldn't react in time, as a group of gargoyles started to show themselves, but I was completely paralyzed in front of that situation, I couldn't react, my legs didn't move, my hands didn't react.
Until I looked into her eyes, she was looking at me with tears in hers, squeezing my chest.
"Children, how delicious, delicious, delicious, delicious!"
the gargoyle began to speak, as blood and guts of its latest victim fell from its mouth, with a leap it began to leap upon us.
With a completely hidden determination, he pointed the gun in its face, which was inside its mouth.
"wha!"
only a roar could be heard from the creature and the shrill sound of the gunshot.
