Chapter 7 - The Bear

I had been running around darting and ducking through the bushes and trees, avoiding the bear at all costs. Makya and Fowler had been providing cover for me, trying to distract the bear. Fowler had drawn the bear's attention, the bear had now changed targets from me to Fowler. Fowler had run out into the open under the moonlight. The bear had chased after him. Makya too had run out to assist her brother. The sibling duo was amazing to see in person. The sheer amount of chemistry they had together while hunting was incredible.

It was almost like a dance, two leaves floating in the wind. The bear then charged Makya, the arrows, and bullets from their weapons were not enough to pierce through the bear's hide. While evading I saw Makya dodging the swipes of the bear's claws, but she tripped and slipped on some leftover bones. They must have been laying around, after all, it seemed to me like we had crossed onto this bear's territory. The bear had lunged at Makya driving its claws into her back. I could hear the fabrics and flesh be torn off her body. Makya then let out a pain-filled scream of terror. Her screams had echoed throughout the woods.

Fowler then sneaks up on the bear from behind while its focus is on Makya. Fowler had jumped high in the air and in his hand, he had a large silver knife, with a black leather handle. He had stabbed the bear in its upper back. The bear began to buck and kick Fowler off its back. Fowler had looked like a bull rider. The bear hoisted itself up onto its two hind legs and falls backward, crushing Fowler. The beast was far from finished, it had bitten Fowler's right shoulder. CRACK! "HOLY SH-!!" Fowler shouted, the bear then tossed fowler in the air, while in mid-air the bear slammed Fowler back into the ground knocking him unconscious.

The bear had let out a mighty roar, the sound was deafening. It then began its pursuit toward Makya, who had been laying on the ground in a pool of her blood. The soil from the ground below mixed with his ruby-red blood, forming a dark liquid. I could get a glimpse of Makya's face, she had looked almost lifeless. I had to do something, "I knew this was a bad idea, I should have just stayed at the camp," I thought to myself. I had to move fast or Makya and Fowler would be good as dead. I grabbed my sword, I began to clutch the handle with a tight grip as the nerves began to set in. I had to get over myself and do this now, even a little time should be enough...right?

I charged out of the bushes out toward the bear. The bear had looked at me and growled. Its massive body turned toward me with the silver knife still stuck on its back. He then began to chase me, I lured him away from the others, that way they would be safe for now.

In this case, I was a genetically gifted freak of nature. Back home I had trained in the mountains and valleys surviving on my own, from young a was always a little stronger and faster, but as time went on I began to become levels above the rest when it came to peak human evolution. I was way faster than the bear, but I did not want to get close enough to test my strength. One slash to the head or body and I'm done for. I had led the bear into the bush of the woods. The trees were too dense to run through, and get away safely. I jumped jump onto a tree and began jumping and running from branch to branch.

But no matter what I did...Or how fast I run. This bear was blood lusted and I was the prey and he was the predator. The bear then began to knock the trees over. One of the fallen trees had hit the branch I had stepped on. I fell for a quick moment then caught myself on a smaller nearby branch. The bear had jumped into the air and slashed my left leg. "AHHHH" the pain was unbearable, but luckily only one claw mark penetrated my skin.

BACK AT THE CAMP WITH CHEM-VOU:

"What's all that noise out there,"

Chem-vou says as he perches himself upward taking a deep breath. He then looked around the campsite to check on the others, but they were gone.

"I thought I told them not to go hunting. These guys just don't listen. Drinks are on them next time."

Chem-vou then runs off into the forest.

OBASI AND THE BEAR:

I had been limping around trying to evade the bear but it was to no avail. The bear had smacked me into a tree, causing me to strike my head on a stump. I could feel the blood leave my body as the bear continued to throw me around like a rag doll. I had still gripped my sword, I could not lose King bells gift. I had managed to crawl away temporarily to another clearing out of the woods. This clearing oversaw a cliff and had a waterfall pouring out. Although my body was battered and bruised, I gathered myself together and stood on my two feet. My left leg had lost all feeling. I gripped my sword and pointed it at the bear heading toward me. The bear began to walk slowly toward me. The bear had looked bigger than before. We now stood 5 feet apart from each other, it had got up on its two legs and stood over me. This was a monster of a creature. If there are creatures like this outside of the tower, who knows what could lie inside. The bear had now thrown its hands into the air as it began to move to smash my face in.

The bear had suddenly been kicked in the face within a second, knocking the bear's head to the ground. The impact of the blow had broken the nearby ground on the cliffside. The soil and rock foundation had begun to break apart, causing me to fall off the side of the waterfall. Losing my balance I let go of my sword throwing it out of my hand. Was this it? Is this how it ends? My injuries already had been taxing my body of energy. My face was swollen from being thrown around over and over again. I could barely breathe.
