Chapter 23 - Outrageous Act

"Ugh. Damn that Mitsuru. He knew I was not in my best condition," muttered Satoru as he went home. "I should check on Satoshi and make sure he can't escape," he thought. Satoru was horrified when he saw the room of Satoshi. Empty. He couldn't find Satoshi anywhere. His anger reached its limit, and he immediately headed to the hospital. When he arrived at the hospital, he found Izumi there, lying down and unconscious. "It must be nice sleeping there, huh? Izumi? You took away what's precious to me. My grandfather, Mitsuru, and even Satoshi. Well, I can't let you be happy. I won't let you marry your lover. Sweet dreams. Sleep for eternity, my dear Izumi." Satoru said those things to the poor, unconscious Izumi with a furious and envious tone. As he was about to kill the one who caused him misery, he remembers his awful past. His hands are full of tremors and a laugh, filled with delight and satisfaction.

Satoru and Satoshi were raised by their grandfather. He was a loving and caring grandfather. Their parents are always busy, so they don't have time for them. They were young to understand what she does for a living. He brought the twins into a dark, cold, and old warehouse one day. They were surprised by what they saw. Four kids, three boys, and one girl, were kept there. Then...

"Satoru, Satoshi. To obtain something valuable or important to you, you must crush those who are in your way. This, for example," he pointed at the location of the four children, shivering at that dark and cold corner. "I used these kids to obtain what I want," he added.

"How about you didn't obtain what you want, grandpa?" Satoru asked curiously.

"Then..." he didn't know what to say and left a short pause.

"Then what?" Satoshi inquired.

"I'll look for a new home for these children," he responded with a faint smile, lingering.

After that, they left the warehouse. One of the children kept back there caught Satoru's full attention. Even though he's a boy, he was mesmerized by him alone. He doesn't know why. Indeed, he won't forget his face. Days later, rain poured out. As if it was telling him something. The twins were in their room at that time when his parents suddenly went to see them. Satoru was downtrodden when they said that their beloved grandfather had died. He wailed and wailed that day. He let his sadness out, he threw a tantrum. He understood that they wouldn't be returning to their loved ones anymore when someone died at a very young age. Satoru loved his grandfather more than anything else in this world. Meanwhile, Satoshi stayed silent, and tears were creeping out of his eyes, unlike his twin. He never felt attachment from their grandfather.

Only a few attended his funeral, and they won't tell him the reason either. After the funeral, his mother gave him a letter. The letter said that they must open the chest inside his room when they turn eighteen. As he unfolded the paper, a key was dropped from it. Then, the letter continued to say:

"Never, ever lose this key. As this will be your instrument to avenge your grandfather."

They followed what the letter said and kept the key in a safe place. They wondered why he must avenge his grandfather, but their parents told them that he met an accident. They didn't ask any further because they knew they wouldn't tell them about the meaning behind his grandfather's message. The rest of their childhood went well until they entered middle school. Satoru and Satoshi thought of something fun. "Neh, Satoshi. Since we're attending different schools, how about we switch for the whole year?" asked Satoru enthusiastically. "Nice idea, Satoru! Let's do that!" said the thrilled Satoshi. And so, the twins swapped. Satoru took the identity of Satoshi; Satoshi took Satoru's identity.

Satoru, now Satoshi, met the boy he saw back in that cold warehouse. He was glad that he was doing well. It seems his grandpa found him a 'new' home.

"What's up? My name is Kurosawa Mitsuru. From now on we'll be classmates, so please take care of me," he said with unwavering confidence.

He felt like his heart skipped a beat when he saw him. Satoru was even surprised when the teacher said he would sit beside him. He was friendly and talkative. He even asked Satoru his name. Without realizing it, the class had already ended. It is now time for club hours. Again, they joined the same club. He and Satoru became friends in no time.

"Hey, Mitsuru, why did you join the martial arts club?" asked Satoru.

"Why? Heh, it's to protect my 'brothers'." said Mitsuru confidently.

"I thought you have no brothers?" confused, Satoru inquired him again.

"No. They are not my real brothers. They're my childhood friends I grew up with. So basically, were brothers now. We even sleep in each other's room when the weather becomes cold." he said.

"That's some friendship you have there, huh? I wish I had also childhood friends like you." Satoru jealously responded.

"We have a princess though. She left Japan after the unwanted incident that happened to us. Her name is Fuchigami Megumi, Haruki's cousin." he said frustratingly.

Then, he remembered that time. Now he knows why they are crying and shivering that time. He asked himself, how could his grandpa do such a horrible thing. He told Satoshi about this, and together, they resented their grandfather for committing such a crime. He and Mitsuru grew even closer, and by their sophomore year, he began to date girls. All of them are his flings. His habit continued until they reached the final year of our middle school era. Satoru cannot hide his feelings anymore. Therefore, he boldly approached him while they were at the library.

"Ne, Mitsuru. Why do you keep hitting up girls when you don't want to get serious with them?" Satoru curiously asked.

"I also don't know myself. I think this is just to forget someone I love," responded Mitsuru with a dull tone.

"[He's been dumped, eh? This is my chance!]." He thought. But as he was about to talk...

"The love is one-sided though. I don't know if he is interested in guys or not. But I cannot confess my love to him because if I did, he will be the one who will suffer." added Mitsuru with a low and sad voice.

"[I cannot believe it! He's into guys! I'll definitely seize this chance!]." He thought as he approached Mitsuru to console him.

"Then... I'll help you forget about him," said Satoru. Confident that he was gaining Mitsuru's feelings, he brought his face closer to him, bringing their lips close to each other. Without hesitation, Satoru pressed his lips against him. Soon, he responded to what Satoru did, locking his lips onto him. Their tongues slid side by side, tasting each other's flavor. The atmosphere was appropriate for them. His sweat, his scent, his body. Satoru couldn't believe he was touching and holding Mitsuru right now. As they continued to kiss, they almost ran out of breath. They released their lips from each other, followed by a thin thread of saliva, and gasped. They were interrupted when someone entered the library.

They left the library without saying anything to each other. It seems Mitsuru is not mad at what Satoru has done. Satoru only hates one thing about him. He is making a poker face most of the time. He cannot tell what Mitsuru feels nor what he is thinking. Then, his two 'brothers' came to fetch him. They are a member of the school's concert band. Their name was Haruki and Izumi. As Satoru recalls what Mitsuru told him, Haruki is a flute player, and Izumi is a euphonium player. While observing them, he already feels that Mitsuru's love interest was among them. When he finally realized, it was the euphonium player, Izumi. Satoru's heart felt a tingling sensation. He knew that Mitsuru was deeply in love with Izumi. But still, he wants him to be his forever.

They continued fooling around until a month before the graduation. One day, they went to the corner of a building close to the concert band club room. They passionately kissed there. They were startled when they heard flute and euphonium playing a beautiful yet lamenting melody. It was Izumi and Haruki, playing at the rooftop of their building. As Haruki walks around the rooftop, chances are he saw or didn't see them in the corner, doing inappropriate things. So, he and Mitsuru ran towards an empty room. There, Satoru confessed his feelings for Mitsuru. His entire world crumbled when he said:

"I am sorry, 'Satoshi'. I cannot date you. Let's end this. It doesn't feel right."

Satoru felt his insides boiling. His body moved on its own and punched Mitsuru.

"L-let us not see each other again. Don't worry, I'll move far away do that you'll forget me," he said in between sobs. Satoru's eyes burning from humiliation and rage. His tears flowed like hot lava; each tear seemed like it was going to burn his embarrassed and flushed face, leaving a ghostly trail.

Satoru left the room and went home. With his rage, he threw everything inside their room. He broke the mirror, the computer, the window, disarranged his wardrobe, and even set his books on fire.

"What the heck?! Why did you do this?!" asked Satoshi. "It's none of your business, Satoshi!" said Satoru. "Mom! Satoru's being explosive!" yelled Satoshi.

There, Satoru happened to find his key to his grandfather's chest. But before he could use it, his parents went into his room, witnessing the chaos he had brought upon himself. They were worried about him. They sent him to a psychiatrist. There, he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. He cannot accept it. He kept convincing himself, his parents, and the doctor that he was normal and not ill. The psychiatrist advised him to be calm most of the time and control himself, which he does until now.

When they finally arrived home, he locked himself in the other room while their room was being renovated. He kept the key and promised that he would open it once he reached the age of eighteen. Three years later, Satoru can finally control his anger. This marks the conclusion of his high school life. Then, he remembered his grandfather's chest. He is already 18, so he figured that he would open the chest now. He went to call Satoshi to open the chest together. Upon opening the chest, he saw letters and pictures. He saw the images of the four persons from each photo and a place familiar to the K group's building. They started reading the note.

"My dear grandchild,

If you're reading this, I might already meet my demise. I did not die due to old age, but at the hands of these three. Look at the first picture. There are three persons here. They are Shirogane Kyoko, Kurosawa Hideaki, and Fuchigami Hatori. They are the grandparents of the children in the second picture. Shirogane Izumi, Kurosawa Mitsuru, Fuchigami Haruki, and Fuchigami Megumi. By the time I am no longer in this world, avenge me. I was about to kill those four children whether I obtained what I wanted or not, but they interfered. I wanted to monopolize their companies into mine, to sell drugs but alas! I failed. Avenge me, my precious grandchild. Take my place. I love you very much.

Grandfather."

They were speechless when he found out that the grandparents of these four were his grandfather's adversaries. He remained calm and disregarded his grandfather's wish. Satoshi's ignored his grandfather's desire; he believes that the atters from the past shouldn't be brought up to the present. They went back to the neighborhood where Mitsuru and others lived and only planned to take revenge on Mitsuru. He let Satoshi enroll at the university where the three were about to attend. Satoshi intends to join the martial arts club again, and this time, he wants to become the captain. While watching Satoshi's shadow, Satoru was surprised when he saw Mitsuru and the two; applying to the same club Mitsuru was one thing but the two? Never once had he thought that they would join this kind of club? When the club hours arrived, they were oriented by the seniors. Mitsuru saw Satoshi and acted as nothing had happened between them. Still cannot move on from that humiliating situation, Satoru clenched his fists. His head was about to burst as veins appeared visibly, and his heart was beating like a bass drum, almost leading a heavy and fast pace of sad music. He remained calm and also acted as nothing had happened.

As soon as the twins went home, Satoru busted his anger at his twin. "Why didn't he show any sympathy when he looked at you?! We're just the same! Let me take your place again. I am going to take revenge on those three!" said the furious Satoru. "I refuse! I won't let your vile schemes sully my name, ever again! Please, try to move on! Besides, you're hurting us," pleaded Satoshi. "Us?" asked Satoru. "Yeah, us! Izumi's been courting me since high school! I won't let anyone interfere with us!" said the angry Satoshi. "No! You won't date him he is the reason for my suffering!" said Satoru. After that, the twins had a fierce fight. Satoshi then moved out of the house because he could no longer tolerate his brother's attitude.

He silently watched them from afar as they went home, wondering how Yuuji fits in their circle. After two years, he did this and planned his revenge. He was in a shadow of a tall building. Prior to the prefectural match, he kidnapped Satoshi and replaced him. He studied how Satoshi got along with them and started acting like him. Not knowing that Satoshi had given up his dream to become a captain, he pursued this path which eventually became why Izumi and Mitsuru fought.

He ruined Mitsuru's confession to Izumi, threatened him to date him or else he will spread a forged scandal of Izumi. Mitsuru refused to do so; he successfully uploaded the photo on social media. He can no longer testify that this is true because he will also be caught in the scandal if he does so. He got pissed when Izumi appeared on TV, flawlessly addressing the issue; because of this, he planned to do something brutal to him. Not until Mitsuru called him and said that he was willing to be his boyfriend in exchange for Izumi's safety.

He thought he had won Mitsuru over. But when Izumi met an accident, he immediately changed his attitude towards Satoru. He knew that Satoru was the grandson of Nakamura Ayato, yet he defied him. His defiance was his gravest mistake. Now, Izumi's—no, even the lives of Haruki and Megumi are put in an even more dangerous situation. Satoru's initial plan was to kidnap Izumi and let his henchmen rape him. Still, they have failed, and they were the very reason why Izumi is in a state of comatose.

Mitsuru said that he would stop Satoru once and for all. Oh, but no. He is unstoppable. He also said that he would declare his love to Izumi once more when he woke up. The question is, is there a place for Mitsuru to go to Izumi's heart when he wakes up? Because Satoru will end his life. Satoru plans to kill the four once and for all before Satoshi can help them.
