Lilia watched the prince leave her side with every step he took. Her body was getting weaker and weaker watching the distance between them grow.
She asked him to leave and now that he was giving her just that, she didn't feel happy. In fact watching him only made her sad. She thought that she would be able to hate the prince for what he did to her that day but her feelings were confusing her.
She was angry at him but she definitely didn't want him to leave. She would much rather him not leave. She saw him hold his head as though he was in pain before he fell back.
Seeing his body moving backwards, her heart thundered with fear. Her legs moved automatically and she ran towards the prince. She covered the distance between then and caught him before his body touched the ground.
She held Lar in her hands her heart squeezing in pain of watching the Prince in that state. "Help me," she screamed out in pain.
"Someone help me!!" she let out in panic. The prince was too heavy for her to lift on her own but she couldn't see him unattended in his condition.
"Pleas~" her voice caught when the door swung open revealing the duke at the door. She was supposed to go and meet him but now he had to find her in the room with her ex. It wasn't a good look on her part.
"What happened?" Anslow questioned hurrying into the room. He carefully picked the prince from Lilia and carried him.
"Let's get him to the palace," Lilia proposed. As a prince had his own line of doctors and nurses to wait on him at the palace. And to avoid putting his life in more danger, it was better to not take him to a public facility.
"Okay," Anslow said. They traced their steps through the back and got into the duke's carriage. The driver drove towards the direction of the palace, the prince was laid in the seat with his head on Lilia's lap.
"What was the prince doing in your room?" Anslow asked to her. Lilia's breath caught. How could she possibly tell him that he came there to profess his love to her. He came to see her as he did in the past before the incident that caused them to part ways happened.
It wasn't his words that affected her when he spoke but the gentle look in his eyes. She had missed having him look at her in that way and it made her heart pain with longing.
"He wanted to know why I didn't give him an invite to our wedding," she replied calmly. She looked him in the eyes while replying.
Even though she was telling a lie, no part of her face showed that she was telling a lie. It might be from how good she had gotten at believing her lies to be the truth that she got good at convincing others as well.
She kept the truth in her heart. She dared not utter a word of it, she herself had no idea whether it was to keep it from affecting her upcoming marriage or because it might not be if she spoke of it.
"I see," Anslow replied relieved.
Lilia's eyes traced the prince's face. It had been long since they had last met and he couldn't have looked more handsome. He looked gentle in his sleep and it put a smile on her face.
Recalling past memories when he would choose to lay his head on her lap to relax and have her massage his head. It was something that she had grown too accustomed to that she missed it.
Involuntarily her hands moved to his head and brushed over his hair. She kept at it not realising what she was doing or the fact that the duke was watching at her every move.
The ride wasn't long since they lived not far from the palace. On recognizing the duke, the guards opened the gates for them and let them in. They got to the palace doors, the duke reached his hands to get the prince.
Lilia snapped out of her trance and looked up questioningly at the duke. "We have arrived, let me carry him in," Anslow found need to explain.
She nodded and let him take the prince. They got off the carriage and walked into the building. News of the prince being carried into the palace by the duke travelled quickly around the palace.
The Queen and king rushed as soon as they heard to go and meet them halfway. The royal doctors were informed to get everything ready to start his treatment as soon as possible.
