Chapter 12 - Versus pt. 2

As the smoke grows thinner, sparkling orange lights scatter, flying across the arena.

"Insects?" Questioned the Dubalang Kapak, with his eyes dazedly looking in all directions.

Hundreds of fiery butterflies rose majestically, filling the sky with their beauty. Freely they fly, full of carelessness, wandering around without a gleam of worries.

Enchanted that they are, both of the Dubalangs suddenly realized they're still on a battlefield. The smoke almost perishes, yet none of the Waraneys were there to be seen.

Every Ambawak has a second vision through their skin, they can track anything that is attached to the things they touch, which includes the ground where they stand.

And if both of them can't see where the enemy is, that's only mean one thing…

"Those pipsqueaks!"

The Kapak looked at his front angrily, and there he saw a scorching tangerine light, churning violently, like wild waves in the great seas.

"Hehehe, there ye are!"

He raised his right foot to the air and vigorously stomps it to the ground. The earth starts trembling as if an avalanche is about to burst open.

[5th Level]

"(Mountain Stairs)"

"Gunuang Tangcipto!"

Dozens of earth walls rose in drove, raging from his foot, and marched toward the source of the fire. They lined in order from short to tall, until it is enough to cover the entire light from his sight.

I reckon most of you haven't understood how the skill and level system in this New World, so let's review it a bit shall we?

For a person who wields elements in their body (which is almost everyone), there are 9 levels of elemental progression or 9 ranks, that they can achieve.

Every archstudents of this Academy currently are on their 7th level, which can only be occurred by someone who reached the age of 18. Unless they are a prodigy from the main bloodline of their tribe.

Stepping up from one level to another gives a person a boost in how strong or even how large their skill would be. It also unlocks them a new level of skills that may not be stronger than their previous one, but somewhat more complex.

Likewise, skills also consisted of 9 levels, which is equivalent to the ranking of the user.

1st level: Is to call the element itself.

2nd level: Is to use it in a set of actions.

3rd level: Is to imbue it with one's weapon.

4th level: Are skills related to combat class specialty.

5th level: Are skills related to low-tier elements or weapon specialty.

6th level: Are skills related to mid-tier elements or weapon specialty.

7th level: Are skills related to high-tier elements or weapon specialty.

8th level: Are skills that push the law of this world.

9th level: Are skills that break through the law of this world.

There are also 10th level skills, but I don't think explaining them will do them justice. So I just left that to your imagination.

Now back to the fight…

*Crash*

The farthest earth wall suddenly shattered, and from it emerged a wave of hungry flame, streaking swiftly through the air, as if there's no wind to hold it back.

"Wha—"

The Kapak reflexively covered his face, yet that flame pushes strongly. He could feel his wrist hitting his forehead. Alongside it, the burning sensation engulfed his hand whole, it was not a nice feeling to have.

As the smoke finally vanished, the image of Sahasya now can be seen clearly. "A bit hot eh?" The boy grinned sinisterly with his [Santi], still coated by a blazing fire.

"Oy don't act so tough little man!"

That Dubalang Kapak then slammed his ax to the ground, creating even more earth walls that randomly spawn everywhere, but this time with their tip sharpen, aiming towards the Waraney's body.

"I'm somewhat tall for a Waraney you know?" Said Sahasya while running and jumping around, skillfully dodging every earth wall coming at him, which were also covered by snow, while emitting even more white mist of smoke from their rises.

"Then y'all little, little and insignificant!"

The Kapak lift his ax back from the ground and propped it to his shoulder, with a mocking smile on his face.

"Oy… the Ardiansyah (the King of Kings of the New World) came from my tribe you know…" Sahasya suddenly stopped his steps. He's clearly not happy to hear what the big guy just said.

He rashly jumped, running towards him like a raging beast, while numerously throwing waves of crescent flames at his opponent's body, through the motions of his [Santi].

That Dubalang stomped the ground harder as a countermeasure, and even pointier earth walls started emerging throughout the arena. Although like before, Sahasya can easily sidestep every single one of them.

Until came the point where their body almost crossed path, and the Dubalang immediately swung his ax wide. Almost slicing Sahasya open.

It's a miss, but he doesn't stop there. A set of continuous swings kept coming, blocking the waves of flame, while also preventing the Waraney to get closer than he was.

"Hard-headed cunt!" Said the Kapak angrily.

"Oy!" Sahasya shouted to his rudeness.

Seeing how there's no progress whatsoever, the big guy proceeded to start spinning vigorously, swinging his ax in a circling manner. Its force was so strong, it flew Sahasya far back through the air.

In the midst of floating, Sahasya took the chance and pulled a musket from one of his rings. His orange eyes shone bright, filled with the wrath of blazing fire.

And with it, 7 circles of flame started spawning near his body, scorching hot, with spells script written on each and every one of them. They began lining up in front of his gun, creating a path aimed at one's head.

But before he was able to shoot, the female Dubalang appeared in front of her brother, carrying a giant hand fan with her, known as [Kipeh]. She spread it wide open, and on it drawn a painting of an earth beast.

[Fire Arts]

[5th level]

"(Centered Shot)"

"Charuu Intera!"

The sky turns reddish, as a blinding light gushes from the muzzle of his gun. The wind got pulled towards the center of the fire, and a ball of flame emanates as if it's about to burst hungrily on both of the Dubalang.

At the same exact time, the fan on the female Dubalang's hand grew bigger, and She stuck it into the ground. The thing turned into a round shield, which spun violently with its face toward Sahasya.

*Bang!*

The gun was shot, and flame coated its bullet with anger. The raging flame then struck that fan shield hard, chewing it up until all that was left was none but charred charcoal.

"Ah… so the girl starts joining the fun now… well I guess the butterflies also grow restless." Sahasya glanced at the sky, and hundreds of fiery butterflies already clouded the arena with their flames.
