She lay on the sand looking at the sky and counting the numerous stars. Some bright, some not so bright, some twinkling with joy and some not so joyful. She felt those stars represent her inner self. She has had her days when it was bright, when she felt powerful and everything in her control and also days when she felt she was a complete loser. Some days when all you see around is happiness and laughter and days when all you see is blood and tears.
She felt like the King Bruce whose story she had heard when she was young. Told to her by her mother by her bed side. The king who was kind, who was brave, but was defeated by his enemies that he had to run away to the forest to take refuge. The heart broken, dejected and tired King sat down in an abandent cave thinking of the life that has become. He has lost many of his men, his land, wealth and comfort that he had worked so hard in life to achieve.
But now, as he sat bleeding, he did not have the strength in him to think of a plan to get back what was truly his. He just sat there with gloomy eyes. Then he saw a spider trying to wave a web. The web that it was skilled at making, it's livelihood depend on it. It succeeded in making one and by then a small pebble from the top portion of the cave caved in and the web was destroyed. The spider worked again, and this time to be blown away by a strong current of wind. The determined spider built it again to be taken down by a big flow of rain water. But man, did he give up? No, it tried again and there it was, a web truly to his liking, build with the same passion and determination. Bruce was so taken away by this simple act of a truely marvelous create of God. It showed him the way...why it is important to keep trying, whatever be the circumstances and not give up, as giving up actually meant you have stopped living.
So there he was, King Bruce all charged up, who gathered himself and his men again to put up his fight with his powerful enemy. The mission was not so easy. There were many moments of dejection and dispair, but he had the spider as his guide. Each time he worked hard with double the courage and determination and ultimately he succeeded in displacing his enemy, cut down his throat and claim to sit on that throne that was rightly his, his alone.
She sat there, and now Bruce was her inspiration. She cannot give up what is rightly hers. She may be kind and just but that does not mean she is a coward. She is peace loving but that does not mean she should just accept the pain and violence that was inflected on her. She has to work and gain back her land, her possession, her crown and more importantly her love....she was determined...she felt powerful and there she was feeling like her childhood hero wanting to make a come back...and feel the life again.
