"I heard you it is just that the question is tactical, wondering why you asked. My mother wants me dead, and I should bring her here to live with me, under my roof. That question need not be asked, Donna. It is an error. That's why I ignored it in the first place."
Donna sat up satisfied because her question was answered just the way she wanted it even though she wanted to make sure. "Where will she live when she's eventually discharged?"
Alex glared at Donna and looked away angrily, "it is none of my business. If she wants my help to get her an apartment and perhaps a housemaid, I will gladly oblige her, but if she wants to go to where she came out from, that is her choice—so she has choices to make." He shrugged and glanced at Donna, who smiled and pondered over Alex's response.
She knew Alex had changed. He doesn't look like the weak Alex that would allow her mother to ride on him like a dumb donkey before now, not anymore.
