After I shooed that creepy magician away from my house, I felt guilty. I almost killed - hell I did kill him - but I thank his magic skills, because of that I'm not rotting in jail.
I still can't believe what he did. That was impossible. I know that even magicians can't pull that trick off. My needed sleep was long gone and now I have to prepare for work. I hope to see Mr. Arrogant there, or should I say Lucas, to say that I'm truly, madly, deeply sorry for hammering his head.
I climbed inside my car, but before starting the engine, I heard a noise. Like someone was snoring. And it's coming in the backseat. I looked behind me, slowly..
Slowly....
Holy shit!
It's Phi-- I mean Lucas. He's curled up on the backseat, one arm under his head, snoring lightly. He was wearing a black leather jacket and ripped jeans. My fingers brushed on his cheek. Already remembering Philip when sleeping.
Why did Lucas have to remind me of Philip? I'm on the way to moving on then he showed up.
He stirred, then opens his eyes.
"Hey," I said softly. "I'm sorry for kicking you out."
"Tsss... it's okay. I got used to everyone kicking me out," he sat down, throwing me his sad smile. He caught my hand and kissed it.
"Why did you do that?" I asked him, smiling.
He shrugged and answered, "I don't know. I just do these things whenever you're around."
"Whatever." I started the engine and put both hands on the steering wheel. Philip used to tell me that, but now that he's gone, I never want to take compliments from strangers again, especially from the opposite gender.
"What are you doing?" I asked him when I saw he's not making a move to get out of my car. He really irritates me now. I want him away from me.
"What?" he deadpanned.
"Get out!" I shouted and he jerked.
"Okay. Sheesh, don't be violent again, woman," he said, clinbing out my car. Once he's gone. I waved goodbye at him and headed to the bar. I looked at the rearview mirror and he's gone from where he was standing.
Weird.
It was five when I arrived at the bar, to be greeted by Tori, another waitress and also my friend.
"Hey, I missed you!" She squealed, Jackson and Peter chuckles at her exaggeration. I rolled my eyes at them, then continued to hug Tori. I missed her too even if she'd been only away for a week. She went to Milwaukee to visit her parents, and she told me what happened when she got there, while we're cleaning tables.
She was ecstatic to say that she met this guy at an ice cream parlor - where she and her nieces use to enjoy a bowl of banana split every saturday. Long-story short, the two of them still kept in touch and I can tell she likes him from her blushing cheeks.
When it was six, we unlocked the door and soon, the customers came in. Tori and I greeted them, while taking orders. I swear Tori's a big help. Since she was on vacation last week, I've been so tired.
And since she was here, these stupid guys don't bug me at all. They took interest in Tori all the time, so I just snap at them when they did that to me while Tori's gone. No worries at all. She seemed to be enjoying their flirting anyway.
I put the bucket of beer on a table with a group of good-looking men. They wore business suits and looks like armani model. One of them smiled at me, which I didn't return at all but head to the bar instead.
"They' hittin' on you?" Pete asked, pouring a shot of I don't know in a glass. "Here," he added and I took a big gulp. I am used to getting drunk. I was always drunk after Philip died and I love this feeling like floating when you drunk too much. But right now, I need to keep it on level because I don't want to make a fool of myself.
"Thanks," And I push the glass back at him, then he answered, "No worries."
Peter is a good man and I've been working with him for almost three years straight. I went back to scan entrance area for the arrival of new comers. When my eyes landed on the opened door and he came in, I gulped andit felt like my lungs was running out of air.
Why is he here again?
He was not wearing the leather jacket he was wearing awhile ago, but a navy blue suit and red tie. He looked like a professional with that businessman attire. Even the guys wearing suit earlier glanced at him and frown. He's even more good-looking than them. The women my age seemed to be ogling him. I saw a movement beside me then she spoke, "Oh goodness, that one's hot," Tori said, putting a hand on my shoulder. We watched him made his way on a table for two at the end.
"You -- you should take his order," I told her.
"Why? He's waving at you. I think you should." She smiled at me, pushing my back towards Lucas' direction.
Here it goes.
"What do you want?" My voice sounding rough and harsh. He looked at me, with his blue-eyes. Narrowing it at me until I felt my face smile. I kept smiling at him when I am not doing it myself.
"What did you do?" I asked him, still smiling sweetly.
"I don't know. You seemed to be frowning everytime you see me so I thought a little magic trick would help," he winked then telling me his order. I walked back to Peter to get his order and I felt my face return to normal again.
"Don't do that again," I hissed at him as I put the tray with a thump on his table. The shot glass spilled all the drinks on the tray. He looked at me with a look I haven't seen on him before.
A look that can literally kill me.
"What?" I said, almost whispering, only for him to hear. He leaned towards me, studying my face and I felt shivers down my spine and all through out my whole body.
What is he gonna do now?
He leaned back his seat and snap his fingers once. I never noticed anything at first, but when he glanced at the tray, I saw that the empty glass are full again. Like notuing spilled. I looked around to see if everyone saw what he did, but what shocked me to the core was when I saw everyone around froze.
"Oh, my god!" I shouted, even though I know no one hears me.
"What did you do? Who are you?" I asked him, my tears spilling from my eyes. He stood up and walked towards me slowly.
"You're not a magician," I told him and he keeps coming near me. My eyes found everyone still the same. No one was really moving right now. He stopped the time. That was impossible. Magicians don't do that. They can't do that!
I took a step back, then hit a wall. I ran and ran, passing everything motionless.
I reached the backdoor and hurried to my car. Even my car won't open! What ddoss he want with me? I don't understand why he showed up and do this to me.
I leaned on the driver's door when I see him in front of me. His hot breath fanned my face and I tilt my face to one side because if I didn't, our lips would have touched. He grabbed my chin with his fingers and he pushed it up to meet his face. I saw the most beautiful blue I ever saw.
Philip.
He was Philip.
