Owen Bertram did not have much time to think when he suddenly felt a premonition: it's coming!
A huge shadow appeared in the mist.
It seemed to wander aimlessly, but as its nose twitched, it headed straight for Owen and his sister.
The creature was about twenty feet tall, and it wasn't until it was within ten steps of the house that Owen could see it clearly. It looked like a moving mass of tumors, with its entire body covered in black, viscous slime.
It had four legs on its lower body, and a slightly smaller head next to its upper body's neck. It had no eyes, only nostrils and a large mouth full of sharp teeth. Its long, crimson tongue, forked at the front, reached out and swept around as if it wanted to wrap around a prey and devour it alive.
"Is this..." Owen resisted his nausea and guessed, "The demon that Vanessa Thoughts of Shadow mentioned?"
"Did their Evil-Repelling Iron Plate become ineffective? Were they corrupted by the village's evil energy?"
