Everyone in the Imperial Court is selfish, including the King, and lacks far-sightedness and insight.
Before the Eagle Demon was exiled, there were already two factions in the Nine Witch Demon Court. One faction was fanatical about destroying the Wood Dynasty and unifying the Eastern Continent, restoring the glory of the Demon Clan from the past. However, it is all talk, without considering if the Nine Witch Demon Court has the strength to do so. It feels as if shouting out loud and recklessly initiating wars could help them achieve their grand goal, which their ancestors could never accomplish.
The other faction believed that the present situation was good, and having a buffer between them and the Wood Dynasty would allow them to live comfortably and enjoy their lives. They wanted even more human slaves to do all their work for them and enjoy their lives even more.
