Chapter 4 - Ginseng Sales

The next day after work, Zhang Cheng entered the Heavenly Dimension and dug out a ginseng after some thought.

He finished drying it, then took it out of the dimension and wrapped it with a prepared cotton cloth.

Although it was not yet a hundred-year-old ginseng, Zhang Cheng was prepared to have this ginseng evaluated.

He arrived at the Chinese Medicine Street.

It was quite remote. If Zhang Cheng hadn't asked around, he wouldn't have found this place.

"Boss, do you accept ginseng here?" As he walked into a pharmacy full of medicinal fragrance, Zhang Cheng directly stated the purpose of his visit.

"May I have a look?" The boss was a man in his forties. He sized up Zhang Cheng and spoke.

Zhang Cheng nodded and took out his ginseng and put it on the counter.

The man carefully unwrapped the cotton cloth. When he saw the ginseng inside, his eyes revealed a look of surprise.

It was quite big, like a radish, but it was a ginseng.

It was actually 187 grams.

The man smacked his lips and said, "I can give you 200." After saying that, the man put the ginseng back on the cotton cloth and pushed it back to Zhang Cheng.

Zhang Cheng was stunned when he heard that. "Didn't you say that ginseng is quite expensive?"

The man smiled when he heard that. "Ginseng is expensive, but the expensive ones are wild ginseng. Yours has been artificially grown. Although it has been around for some time, it isn't very valuable. Moreover, it won't be easy to sell."

Although the man spoke truthfully and didn't seem to have anything to scam people with, Zhang Cheng nodded and kept the ginseng.

It was impossible to sell it for just 200 yuan.

When the man saw Zhang Cheng put away the ginseng, a strange look flashed in his eyes.

"How about this, I'll double the offer?"

"I'll ask again." Zhang Cheng smiled and walked out of the pharmacy.

In the pharmacy, after the man saw Zhang Cheng off, his face turned ugly. Although Zhang Cheng's ginseng had been planted domestically, which was commonly known as garden ginseng, it would take at least 30 years for it to grow to this size.

Especially when it was in his hands, the smell had been very pleasant.

Therefore, even if it was garden ginseng, it would not be cheap. He would not rate it at 100,000 or 80,000, but 35,000 would be rather easy. After all, it was a good item.

Unfortunately, the other party had been rather patient and did not seem to be driven by desperation.

He asked a few pharmacies consecutively, but basically, all of them offered 3500 or 8100.

Zhang Cheng was a little depressed.

Was this ginseng really so worthless?

Of course, 1000 yuan was not bad, because if he collected 200 or 300 ginseng plants twice a month, it would be hundreds of thousands or something close to a million yuan.

However, it was still far from Zhang Cheng's goal.

According to Zhang Cheng's imagination, it was impossible for him to ship so many ginseng plants at such a speed, because such a large influx of ginseng, even if planted, would attract unnecessary attention. It might even bring trouble.

Therefore, it was more suitable to ship one ginseng every three to five days, or even once every ten days to half a month.

Then, the price of one ginseng would have to be a little higher,

After thinking about it, Zhang Cheng walked into another pharmacy.

A young woman was standing behind the counter, fiddling with her cell phone.

Although the young woman in front of him looked like she was in her thirties, she still had a youthful aura.

The combination of maturity and youthful aura was clearly a carefree growth that could only be achieved by completely ignoring the daily necessities.

The young woman noticed Zhang Cheng entering and put away her phone. "Hello, what do you need?"

"Do you accept ginseng here?" Zhang Cheng asked.

Although he had almost no expectations, he still had to go through all the shops in the Chinese Medicine Street.

When the young woman heard that, she nodded and said, "Yes."

When Zhang Cheng heard that, he handed over the cotton cloth wrapped with ginseng.

The young woman took it and untied it.

When she saw the ginseng, she couldn't help but be stunned.

"It's so big."

When he heard the young woman's words, Zhang Cheng felt a little sheepish, so he hurriedly lowered his head and bent down.

Fortunately, the young woman's attention was on the ginseng, so she did not notice Zhang Cheng's loss of composure.

After sizing up the ginseng for a moment, the young woman raised her head and looked at Zhang Cheng. "I can't name a price for this ginseng, so I have to call my father over. Can you wait a moment?"

"How long?" Zhang Cheng took the opportunity to sit down and ask.

The young woman smiled lightly. "It won't take more than a few minutes." As she spoke, she made a call.

A few minutes later, an old man with a shiny crown of wispy hairs walked into the pharmacy.

"Dad, look at this ginseng," The young woman said excitedly. It seemed that she was a little annoyed that she couldn't determine the value of this ginseng.

The old man nodded to Zhang Cheng, then walked to the counter and saw the ginseng. He was also surprised.

This ginseng was obviously a garden ginseng.

But could it still be this big after it drying up?

If it wasn't dried, wouldn't it weigh over two kilos?

After sizing it up for a moment, the old man made a rough judgment on the price of this ginseng.

"Hello, we can offer you 30,000 yuan for this ginseng."

Oh? Zhang Cheng, who was originally not hopeful, had a flash of joy in his eyes when he heard that.

Although it still didn't meet his expectations, at least there was some meaning to the price of this ginseng.

"This ginseng of mine has been around for decades."

He was implying that it was still a low price.

The old man smiled and nodded. "That's right. If not for decades of cultivation, even a garden ginseng wouldn't grow this big. It's just that it's a garden ginseng, after all."

The most effective part of a ginseng was its saponins.

And as it grew older, the effect of the saponins became better.

This was also the main reason why the price of ginseng was often eye-catching.

But first, it had to be wild ginseng.

If it wasn't wild ginseng, even if it was the ginseng that Zhang Cheng took out and weighed half a tonne, the price wouldn't be so expensive. It would be hard to even go above 100,000.

Zhang Cheng smacked his lips helplessly.

The old man thought for a moment and said, "How about this, I'll give you 40,000. How about it?"

"I have more than one ginseng," said Zhang Cheng.

Hearing this, the old man was stunned. There was more than one such ginseng?

Although the young man in front of him might have deliberately said this to raise the price, he frowned and thought for a moment.

"I'll give you another 5,000 to make it 45,000. What do you think?" Said the old man.

"Aren't you afraid that I'll get greedy?" Zhang Cheng laughed.

The old man couldn't help but be happy. "Then this ginseng would not be fated to be with me."

"Why do you say so?" Zhang Cheng couldn't help but be surprised.

"I'm planning to brew some medicinal wine soon. This ginseng is just right for that use," the old man said.

Zhang Cheng nodded when he heard that. So the old man was planning to use it for himself. No wonder he was pushing him so hard.

"Okay, 45,000 then."

The old man smiled lightly and carefully put away the ginseng.

It was rare to see such a large ginseng, even in the garden.

The young woman worked on an abacus and handed Zhang Cheng his 45,000.

Zhang Cheng took the money and looked at his savings that had broken through five digits for the first time. Zhang Cheng could not help but be happy.

"Then I'll take my leave."

"Take care." The old man nodded.
