Separating a cursed object from its host was easier said than done. When a curse bound itself to someone, it did so on a spiritual level. Once bound, one couldn't escape the curse until it was either purified by a miracle or the curse killed the host.
However, there was another method to separate them, albeit temporarily. Using an overwhelming amount of mana could theoretically strain the connection between the two.
With the connection strained, the curse couldn't influence its host and the host couldn't use the curse object, yet there was a huge consequence for doing this.
Curse objects survived on their connection and forcefully straining it was like starving a tiger. Eventually, the cursed object would re-establish its connection with its host, and when it did, the strain on the host would multiply.
