Jayce just stood there awkwardly as he let the two of them have their crying fest. He didn't know them well and thought it would be best to wait it out.
After a handful of minutes, they were finally able to calm themselves down.
"Was it her?" Britney asked. "Did Lara make you do this?"
Tess didn't respond as she turned away from her, unable to look Britney in the eyes.
"Tess?" She repeated, a little louder this time.
"I tried," Tess replied, her shoulders shaking. "I thought that if I stayed with her, she would go back to how she was before but after class, she... she said that I was a burden to everyone around me and I should just kill myself."
Jayce was sure she would have started crying again if she hadn't just cried her eyes out moments ago.
"She's not wrong. All I do is cause trouble." Tess was interrupted as Britney slapped her across her face.
"Don't you ever say that again!" Britney yelled.
