Chapter 2 – There is Hope
The man walked up to Fei and asked "Young man, what's the smile for?"
"You know why. You're our father aren't you? I can tell, you're definitely our long lost dad" said Fei confidently.
"Did your mother ever tell you about me?" asked the man.
"No she didn't. I can't believe it. You came here at the right time. Sue, your daughter is close to death. She'll die soon" said Fei strongly.
The man showed Fei his ID. Name is Harriot Fong. Age 47 and a Spy Agent for Arcland. The man proceeded to give Fei a coupon for a free delivery from the company Cruez's Path. "That business is mine also" said the man. All the questions Fei had for his father vanished. Questions like where were you all these years? Why didn't you attend mom's funeral? How much do you know about us? Fei couldn't care less about any of that because he never suffered from being fatherless.
"I'm so glad you're here Harriot. Can I call you dad? Sue must be so happy to see you" said Fei looking at Sue. She was sleeping soundly on the bed. The man sighed and nodded in disagreement. "When I told her I'm her dad she broke down. She cried nonstop and started mumbling a lot of things to herself. Poor thing, she has her mother's illness. There is a way to save her though" said Harriot. His words sprung hope inside Fei. Hope he thought he had abandoned.
"Really! There's a way cure her. Spill it!" urged Fei
"You had cardiomyopathy too when you were 7. I healed you with a special potion. Now it's time for me to heal Sue" said Harriot. Fei punched his father in the face enraged for the first time ever. "You healed me! That's why I'm not suffering from the disease you ASS! What about Sue? Did you forget to heal her then!?"
Harriot replied "There wasn't enough for two. Believe me if I had it my way I would have healed you, your sister and my sweetheart. Life doesn't follow our rules. Before you punch me again you have to listen to everything I'm about to say down to the last detail. It's the key to heal your sister" said Harriot. Fei gulped and sat beside his father.
Harriot cleared his throat and started from the beginning. "Believe it or not but Dragons are real. They are creatures that is close to extinction. Only one Dragon remains and he's centuries of years old. It's kept a secret to almost the entire world. Just a small circle of people are aware of its existence" said Harriot.
....
"What are you talking about? Hahahaha" Fei started laughing at his father for saying such a thing. "Dragons eh, I bet the tooth fairy is real too" he teased.
"Anyways I'm dead serious. The Dragon produce a special liquid that heals anything and everything. It even regenerate organs" said Harriot. Fei find it hard to believe such a thing existed. "Be real with me. Are you telling the truth? I know nothing about you except that you're FBI. If there is a potion that can heal Sue why haven't you brought it yet?" asked Fei.
"It takes ten years for the Dragon to produce enough of the liquid to full a cup. Luckily for us this year will be the year where a cup can be filled. There's a catch though. All of the world leaders who knows about the potion wants it for their own. That's why we hold an event that determines who gets the potion. It's called the Dragon's Hunt. I took part of it ten years ago and won it by a hair. That's how I got the potion to heal you from the illness. I'm sorry there wasn't enough for your sister but put yourself in my shoes for a minute. I had to decide on which of my two kids to save. Do you know how torturous that felt?" explained Harriot. Harriot spoke strongly, his words was full of conviction. Fei rubbed his sister's neck and smiled. "Damn we look so much alike. If she dies then a part of me will be gone forever" said Fei.
He accepted the fate of his sister but not anymore. "Trish had a point. I should have looked for a solution until the bitter end. Not accepting Sue's demise. I wonder how she felt when I talked like that. I bet she was heartbroken but hid it from me. I'm a terrible brother" giggled Fei.
Harriot was about to say something else but Fei cuts him off by saying "I already know what you're going to say. You can't participate in this year's Dragon Hunt so you want me to do it in your stead. That's fine by me. Just get me involved and I'll win the whole thing with my power"
"You told me an insane secret so it's fair that I do the same. Not even my sister knows about my gift. A year ago when I was depressed about my sister I attained a power that no one else possess. I don't know how and why I got the ability but I can move extremely fast. I don't seem to have a limit to how fast I can go. I didn't believe in supernatural stuff until last year" said Fei excited.
Harriot sighed and pulled out his hand. Without warning Fei started floating up in the air until his head hit the ceiling. "You're not special son. Lots of people go through hardships every day. When they overcome those hardships they are gifted with a certain power. In your case it's speed, in my case it's gravity. I'm impressed that you already knew what I was going to say. Yes I want you to enter this year's Dragon Hunt. Win the whole thing and heal your sister. It will be held in five days" said Harriot. Fei suddenly fell on the floor hurting his forehead.
"I should have known I'm not the only one. These gifts can be given to anybody. Does everyone keep it a secret" Fei wondered.
"How will I be able to partake in this Dragon Hunt? Where is it located?" asked Fei
"A deserted island called Apsychos. The Dragon lives there far away from people. If you leave now you can get there the day before the competition begins" said Harriot.
"Hmm, cool" Fei replied.
"Fei I am shocked by you. Out of nowhere you saw your long lost father and he told you things most people wouldn't believe but you're rolling with it. You're something else" Harriot complimented. Fei laughed it off and said "Don't mention it. You gave me hope and I thank you for that. Sue may not have to die after all"
"You'll be able to participate once you get a permission from someone in the golden circle" said Harriot.
"Damn you still have new information. What the hell is the golden circle!?" asked Fei annoyed.
"It's the thirty people who are aware of the Dragon's existence. Some are prime ministers, Kings, and Entrepreneurs. I got into the inner circle because of my business Cruez's Path. Luckily for you, you already have permission" said Harriot happily.
"You won the last Dragon Hunt so it's safe to say I won't fail. Luckily for us" said Fei. They both started laughing out loud. Before too long Sue woke up again and started arguing with Harriot. She lashed out at him for not being with them for years. It didn't bother Cj nearly as much as it did Sue. "Our mother left us when we were ten. Where were you all these years you jackass. I wish you get buried alive" she shouted. She pulled in her brother and father and gave them a big hug.
"You came here expecting me to be happy. Hell no! We could have had so much fun together but look. You were gone" Sue cried as she stroke Fei and Harriot's green hair. The day ended with Harriot spending a night in Fei's apartment. The next day Harriot moved Sue to a different hospital and made sure to give her the highest level of medical. Harriot prepared a private jet for Fei to take to the island. Before he went on board Harriot gave Fei a call.
"Fei make sure you win the Dragon's Hunt. Your sister's life is riding on this. I'm sorry I can't go with you" said Harriot. "It's cool. I much rather you be by Sue's side. Make up for all the years you left us for you prick" Fei replied then hung up. He walked inside the jet and took the skies soon after. "Nothing is going to stop me from getting that healing potion. It must be destiny that I met my father when I did. Sue will be saved" said Fei strongly.
