Two days ago, Emerald City Airport.
"Waaaahhh!! Why did you take so long! " A petite woman was hugging a slender and tall woman while crying. She was hugging as if her life depended on this hug. "Do you know how much I missed you, Mel!"
People were whispering and stifling their laughter while watching this scene but Melody and Serafina didn't care about anyone.
They were the kind of best friends who had known each other from diapers. Serafina was Melody's emotional pillar. Seven years ago, when she lost everything overnight, she didn't have a place to call home nor did she have anyone to call her own. But it was her best friend who gave her shelter and courage to begin her life once again when she herself was grieving for her loss.
Perhaps, it was their grief that made their bond stronger than before. Nobody understood them more than they did.
"Okay, okay, now stop crying, Fina," Melody said, patting her shoulder. Whispering in her ear, she continued, "It's getting over. And your acting is still as bad as it was a month ago when you were practising this scene in London."
Instead of glaring at her friend, Serafina hugged her even tighter. "Don't expose me. And she is recording our tearing union. Your bitchy sister will receive the news in two minutes that you are back."
Serafina broke the hug for a moment and then skillfully wiped her red nose and tears to express how heartfelt this reunion was. And then hugged her once again.
"I missed you, Mel. Don't leave me again, "Serafina said, this time quite seriously. She meant each of her words. It was just that Melody lived in London while she couldn't leave her work in Vulgaria to give her company all the time.
She didn't meet her often. It's just that she only spends eight months out a whole year at Melody's house in London. The rest of the time, she had to work her ass off to pay the bills.
"It's been seven years," Serafina asked in a pitiful tone. "Didn't you miss me once in those years?"
Her eyes were still on the bitch recording their union. As much as she knew these followers of Irene Callahan, these pictures and videos are gonna rich that ultimate bitch as soon as they disappear from their sight.
"You can't forget your Fina for a jerk," Serafina shouted this sentence, making the video recording bitch wince.
"Indeed, I will not forget my Fina for a jerk again," said Melody while wiping Serafina's tears. Although they were acting this scene, still she couldn't stop her ears tearing up for real this time. 'I'm back, Emerald City. I have been away for Seven years. I'm here to take back all the things stolen from me.'*PRESENT***
Gideon caught Melody's wrist and dragged her from the hall as soon as the party ended. He let her act coy and clingy with him as long as people were noticing them. But as they disappeared, he grabbed her wrist and dragged her to an empty corridor.
"G, what are you doing?" she whispered, anticipation written all over her face as her back hit the wall. There were only a few inches of distance between their faces. He was slightly taken aback by her face. To say that she had changed a lot in those seven years wouldn't be an exaggeration. She had changed way too much. He still remembered the time when he saw a thirteen years old young girl for the first time. She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen then. However, it wasn't her beauty that called to him in the first place, rather the innocence flickering in those coal black eyes.
And now?
She was a reminder. A reminder of something he wants to avoid at all costs. As ethereal as she might appear, she wasn't welcomed here.
She needed to go back before…
No, no, not going through that line of memories again…
Still, he can't help the way his eyes devour every inch of her skin, the planes and contours of her face. With long, dark hair that looked just like the colour of her eyes or the colour one might say as stolen from the darkest of the nights, and skin so pale and tender as it had not seen the face of the sun for days, yet under the dim light of the lightbulb, it was glowing like porcelain.
In a white and black long dress that brings out the ethereality of her features and those cherry lips, he couldn't seem to look away from.
"Why?"A word escaped his mouth.
Melody sighed, her gaze still locked on his face. " Because I love you."
"Goddammit, Melody! Can't you see I don't love you?!" Gideon shouted. "You are not welcome here."
"But you loved me in the past," Melody whispered in a very calm voice. "Or were you just pretending, G?"
"I was a teenager, Melody! What do you expect from an inexperienced and horny teenager? People fall in and out of love all the time," Gideon told her. " Go back. There ain't any place for our in our lives."
With this said, Gideon was time from her gaze. He was not even willing to waste his precious words on her.
Melody wiped her fake tears and the sad look on her face was replaced by an evil smirk. "You are right, my dear husband, people fall in and out of love all the time. However, wouldn't I be an easy woman to discard if I let you live in peace just like this? Don't you have to pay the debt that all of you owe me?"
Each one of them. From her husband to that half-sister of hers, she would see all of them. But right now, she had to manipulate that scumbag father. How could she let Irene take what belonged to her? Be it invaluable and replaceable commodities like her husband or some properties, she would snatch back all of them.
