"I think I'm starting to understand how noble families choose their children's partners," Eclaire said, and it was like she was just thinking out loud. "It has benefits, too."

That kind of hit his sore spot.
It was rare for nobles to marry for love. Usually, a marriage between two noble households only meant expanding the business. That, or making sure that one's noble lineage would remain pure.

It was a sad reality of their society.
