"There is one main thing about the Tobu Family tradition." Arthur took off his shirt, leaving only his shorts on. "Remember about the type of martial arts?" He thre a question to Hero. " I remember." Hero answered as he took off his shirt too, kind of struggling because of the iron piece at his wrist kind of blocking his way. "There are four main types…." Arthur hinted. "Stand up Martial arts, Ground fighting Martial arts, Takedown Martial arts, Weapon based Martial arts and Meditative Martial Arts" Hero answered perfunctorily. "Relaxed, I like to read."
"Yeas, those are the four main types." Arthur snap his finger. "But the Tobu family tradition is a hybrid martial arts, mainly consisting of all of the above. We strike as if our hands were weapon, we attack joints and weak spots if needed, we off-balance our opponent if we needed too and we throw punches and kicks." Arthur explained. "There are 50 combinations, I am going to teach you half of them, that's the maximum amount you could learn in two weeks." "Sure" Hero stretched his shoulder and neck excitingly. "Where do we start?"
"We start with the basic, a punch." Arthur pointed at the tree in front of his house. "There are two types of main punches, a sting: face paced rapid punches that deals minimum damage. A heavy hit: usually needs a lunge to increase the force making it slow but deadly" He put his fist against the tree and take a deep breath before continue. "A core punch." Suddenly as without any warning, he lunges a quick punch at the tree, but the tree shook violently as leaves rain down from it. "How, how did you done that?" Hero immediately asked, he was shocked by the destruction of what it looks like a quick sting.
"This is one of the Toba family tradition." He patted the trunk of the tree, showing a clear mark of his fist embedded onto it. "You know a spring right? This works the same way like it, through focusing the muscles of our shoulder and wrist, we can burst a punch similar to a heavy hit but fast. But there is a catch." He suddenly added. "A core punch isn't perfect, it needed time to charge, so it could be used as an element of surprise against the enemy when they least expected."
"Now," Arthur move away from the tree and pointed at the one beside it." I needed you to practice that alright? "Sure." Hero cracked his knuckles and walk towards the tree, he put his fist onto the bark of the tree and focused. "Don't lunge your fist, keep it at your shoulder." Arthur added. Hero nodded and take a deep breath, words echoed in his mind.
"Don't eat me."
"It's a parasite."
"Thank you, my friends. Thank you…."
"You want any potions?"
"If I can't let you stay, at least let me teach you something."
"Get prepared, we have a farewell party reserved at the kitchen."
He move his fist back ever so slightly and closes his eyes. His mind is clear at the moment, he could feel every single muscle twitching in his body, every slight breeze and the rustling of the leaved. With sudden determination and power, he open his eyes and lunges his fist towards the tree. As the fist impacted on the tree bark, a huge crack almost split the sky into two. The bark completely snapped and the tree fell. "Now that is quick learning." Arthur walk towards Hero and gave him a slap at his back.
"Ow." Hero rub his hand, which is bleeding by the time, some wooden shards had impaled into his hand. "That hurts." "Get used to it, now you need to train to master this technique." Arthur show him his fist, which is also filled with scars and wounds of all kind, he knuckles had been wounded for so many times that the bone is visible to the naked eye. It works like a brass knuckle, Hero began wondering how he is able to survive that much punch from that deadly fist.
"Now there is no time to train slowly, I will teach you the next basic move…." Arthur began his teaching once more while Hero look aside and learnt, trying his best to master the move. Both Hero and Arthur has never been that excited before. Maybe it is Hero's first time learning martial arts, maybe it is Arthur's first time as a teacher.
