Angeline stared at her shiny face in the large mirror inside her husband's bathroom in his office. She shook her head in bitterness.
Huh. So much for applying make-up, Angeline thought while washing her face. She should have listened to her inner voice, not bothered putting on make-up as it would be another disagreement with Jacob.
It's a waste of effort, but never mind, just don't make my husband angry. And maybe the two of us will have another cold war, she considered sensibly.
"You're very quiet," Jacob commented, hugging his wife. "Were you mad that I ruined your make-up?"
"That's a superficial reason for us to argue further and ruin everything. Forget about it," Angeline advised her husband.
"Ah. Then that means it upset you. Am I right?" His eyes proved how he looked at her quietly, those eyes as if delving into her soul.
The two of them looked at each other through the mirror in front of them.
