"Vampires are called the creatures of the night. We are at the peak of our state when rays of the sun are not falling directly on us. But when the rays of the sun are falling on us, then we would only be able to utilize 40% of the power." The ghost said.
"40%? That is not a lot." Fabian said with concern.
"Yeah… But the thing is that as you get stronger, this restriction starts to fade away. And after a certain level, one could just ignore the sun forever." The ghost said.
"When would that happen?" Fabian asked.
"Soon… you see we vampires tend to live for a very long time. So you don't actually have to worry about the time it would take for you to reach that level… Now summarise to me what I have taught you till now…" The ghost said.
"Well, you told me that in this world there is an energy called mana. And beings who could wield the mana are the real leaders of this world. We are the vampires that could wield mana. Silver acts as a poison to us and you will teach me how to wield mana for a certain level. Then you would go fade away in nothingness. But if you deem me worthy enough then you would give me your inheritance." Fabian said.
"Correct." The ghost said.
"So now what? Will you start teaching me now?" Fabian asked.
"Unfortunately no. I cannot do that. For someone to use mana, they got have a physique capable of wielding the power of mana. You on the other hand are like a newborn baby. You don't understand your own strength let alone you would understand how to wield mana." The ghost said.
"Then what do you want me to do?" Fabian asked.
"You will need to train your body. And then I have to teach you about self-defense so that you could at least handle yourself in real combat." The ghost said.
"I can handle myself after some amount of training. I know I am not a genius or anything but I am smart." Fabian said.
"No, you cant. Do remember the feeling that you got when I came out of the ring? That feeling you felt was because of my power. I am just a broken piece of a soul. That means that I am not at my peak currently. And yet there you were pissing in your pants after seeing my power. So guess what… You would need very rigorous training." The ghost said.
"I did not piss my pants…" Fabian said.
"I am sorry, 'Almost piss your pant'." The ghost said.
"Well, I cannot stay for long out of the ring. So I would go back. Take the ring with you whenever you go or I will be furious. Later my disciple." The ghost said.
Then the blue color cloud started retreating towards the ring. As the blue color cloud retreated, Fabian started thinking about what had happened…
He doesn't have any knowledge about the world of the supernatural. So in a way, he couldn't tell whether the ghost was a friend or a foe? He was having a hard time believing that a demon who doesn't know him would help him in getting stronger without any catch. This was a very confusing situation.
Fabian started thinking, the worst thing that could happen to him was that the ghost may try to take over his body and thus kill him. What he did not understand was why the hell did that ghost didn't do it straight away? He could tell the ghost had enough power to pin him down and maybe knock him out. And even though he wanted he couldn't attack the ghost because of his special body.
Then why the hell did that ghost didn't took over his body right there and then? After thinking about it, Fabian finally came to a theory. That ghost told him that his body was not strong enough to wield mana. That meant that he was weak. At some time that ghost even called him a weak baby. That meant that maybe the ghost didn't attack him at that time was because his body was not ready to handle such power.
It seemed to be the only valid explanation. Now the question was whether Fabian should trust that ghost? The ghost was right on the thing, that was the fact that Fabian was weak. If a being like him could make him tremble then about the other beings of the world? If he plans on seeing that world, he at least needs some amount of strength to live his life.
Fabian decides that he needs to start training. He needs to get stronger and know all of his weaknesses and strengths. But that would also mean that he would also be getting a step closer so that ghosts could devour him whole…
While facing the dilemma, Fabian didn't know what he should do? He had the feeling that he may not be able to grasp the power to suppress the ghost even he drinks all of the blood of those people in the inn. So what he should do now? While thinking about it, Fabian realized another thing that he had previously missed.
When Fabian took control over Sherly's mind, he could tell that if he wants he could order her to do anything. If he wanted then he could have just ordered her to slit her throat and he would have done so, without a second thought. But when the ghost took control of Fabian's mind, that time he had some amount of control.
He was although was in the influence of the ghost's power, he was conscious the whole time. He knew what he was speaking. While when the demon that made him a vampire used his skill to take control over his and Maria's mind, they did not have any consciousness. They were like lifeless puppets dancing on his every command.
So connecting all the points, Fabian inferred that the ghost could only control his mind to some extent. He could not control his whole mind. That means that the ghost could not just control him and have his way with him. That was little relief.
Fabian started thinking that while the ghost's training could be beneficial for him, he needs to make sure that he finds a way from which the ghost would not be able to take control over his mind. That way he may be able to survive…
….
Fabian didn't want to sleep that night. So instead he started planning his future. He knew from tomorrow he would start his training with the ghost. Although that was a risky move, he had to take that step. But the problem was his food…
He understood the fact that he would need food to survive. And the food was in the form of the humans that were in the inn currently. The way he is now, there was no way he would be able to take control of all of them. So he needed to plan on how should he take control of the inn. Then Fabian started remembering the conversation that he overheard when he was in the inn.
He knew that there was not enough equipment in the inn so that they all could migrate towards the nearest village. As far as food is concerned, he knew that the food won't be enough for all the people of the inn. He had restocked the food and other material of the inn, which meant he knew how much food there was in the inn currently. So according to his estimation, the food will run out if within a month or two.
For now, they may be in the inn, confined by strong walls. But when the food would run out then they would have to get out of the inn. But he won't be able to wait that long…
If he waits for infighting between those people in the inn, then he would be left hungry for a long time. So Fabian decided that the time for sheep hearing is near…
Fabian decided that he would infiltrate the inn tomorrow. And his sole purpose of infiltration would be to take control of all those people. He has some plans so that he could make sure that he could stay there and keep an eye on those people.
This would benefit him as this would allow him to weed out the unnecessary people. Those people could just become his after-noon snack. While the people that he would choose would become his cattle. He would make sure that they all live for the sole purpose of giving him nutrients while he trains.
