Chapter 17 - Chapter-17<Danger-6>

'If this guy doesn't know where Bran is then he is of no use to me.' The male vampire thought.

He started thinking that it would be for the best to kill and dispose of this guy. There was no way that Bran would be able to find out that he killed his servant. So the male vampire took out his saber to kill Fabian.

When Fabian saw that the vampire in front of him had taken out his saber, he smiled inwardly. The torture was over and now he could finally rest forever. Fabian was happy that he would be released from his misery. But as the vampire was closing in towards Fabian, he felt like the time around him had slowed down.

It was just an illusion played by Fabian's mind when he saw that time was flowing slowly. And in that little time, Fabian started remembering his life. He had not lived a happy life. He never had any loved ones. His mother passed away at a very young age so he had to take care of himself. Then there was Jared. That old bastard treated him badly, but as that old man put bread on his table Fabian didn't have remorse about the way that old man treated him.

Then his heart was broken…

In all, Fabian didn't live a very happy life. The only time he had been happy for the first time was when he was running through the snowy woods near his village. And that was just yesterday. It was at that moment he was truly happy.

According to him at that moment, his life was full of possibilities. Till then he was living in the same old, oppression-filled life. But it was at that moment he was truly able to smile for the first time ever. But now it seems that the world didn't like that he was happy. Yesterday he was happy and now he was about to be killed by a vampire for the reason that he didn't understand.

While thinking about the past, Fabian started thinking about the past, he remembered the ghost that came out of the stranger's ring. He told him that he was a magus that had immense power. He was always curious about him. He wanted to know more about that weird-looking ghost. But now it seems that he would never find out more about that man.

But it was then Fabian suddenly remembered, the name when the ghost introduced himself. Was his name again…

"Wait!." Fabian suddenly exhaled. His body was so beaten up that it took a lot of effort for him to speak.

"What?" the vampire asked uninterested in what Fabian had to say.

"Von De Drac Ulaspas," Fabian said the name of the ghost.

As soon as the vampire heard that name he stopped in his tracks. He looked at Fabian once again. He knows what that name represents. It was a name that every high-level vampire knows, including him. But there was no way in hell that newbie vampire know that name. Even if Fabian know that name, why the hell was he bringing him up now?

"What about him?" the vampire asked him.

"The ring… successor… inheritance," Fabian said.

Because of the beating Fabian was having a hard time speaking. But these few words were enough to make the vampire's ear tingle. Von De Drac Ulaspas was the greatest vampiric mage of all time. But he never left any inheritance or legacy for anyone his fellow vampires. What he did leave behind was a small ring.

That ring had been in the Ulaspas family for centuries. Many believed that the ring possessed some sort of message or clue that would lead a vampire to his legacy. But after centuries of research and analyzing that ring no one was able to discern what were the secrets behind that ring. Many believed that a high-ranking mage would be able to decode the secrets of the ring.

But the vampiric community didn't have a lot of powerful mages. So no one was able to discern what was the ring's secret…

"Are you going to fool me saying that the ring that Bran possesses the secrets of the legacy of Von De Drac Ulaspas?" the vampire said with contempt.

"The ring… has a portion of the soul of Drac….." Fabian spoke in a muffled voice.

"What?" the vampire asked.

Although the vampire had heard that a strong magus can cut some portions of their soul and makes some of their copies, but why the hell would the great Von De Drac Ulaspas would seal a portion of his soul in that ring. That doesn't make any sense. But it was then the vampire started to understand the situation of the ring.

If what Fabian said is true then that ring is the most valuable treasure that a vampire could possess. For a magus who had to spend their whole life in research of ascending to a higher realm, their inheritance is their lifeblood. And usually, all the high-rank magus tend to leave behind their inheritance to leave their mark in history.

It was very odd of Von De Drac Ulaspas that he didn't leave behind any inheritance. But maybe he did leave behind something for the younger generation. But how would he have made sure that his inheritance would be inherited by someone competent? He could have only done that by choosing his heir himself.

A part of the soul has the same knowledge as the original one. Their thinking style is also the same. So maybe what Fabian was saying is true. Maybe that ring does contain the portion of the soul of the great Von De Drac Ulaspas…

"Where is the ring?" the vampire asked.

"My hand…" Fabian said.

As soon as Fabian said that, the vampire saw a black color ring in his hand. He knew that this wasn't the ring of Von De Drac Ulaspas, but he thought that maybe that ring has some sort of illusion cast on it.

So with the saber in his hands, the vampire swung the saber towards Fabian's hand and cut the finger on which he was wearing the ring.
