Magnificent...That was the first word I said to myself after seeing Kitsuneki's transformation into his true form, The Seven Tailed Fox. He was no longer humanoid at all. That was his true Yokai self that he has been hiding from the world. I remember the time when he first introduced me to the world of Yokai when I was still under his reign. The last thing he told me before sending me back to home to prepare for Infinity Academy was about The Seven Tailed Fox Yokai. Apparently it was him all this time...
"So that's his true form..." I said to myself.
Violet was beside me and said, "He might have hidden that form for quite a while from the looks of it."
"How are you so sure about that?"
"He just howled as loud as he possibly could. He was releasing all of the tension and emotion that he has been hiding all this time."
"And now he's going to kill us..." added White.
"Well to bad for that, White." I begin to reload my flintlock as I told him, "I'm going to take him out first."
I shot out a water elemental bullet but as it was about to reach the fox, The Snow Phoenix suddenly took its own life by protecting the fox with its own life. The phoenix once again disintegrates into a pile of snow, waiting until its next revival in a few minutes later.
White pointed out, "Now that's just annoying, isn't it?"
"Oh, now you feel me. I've felt this for more than 7 times already." I joked around for a bit with that. White doesn't seem to be offended at all. But who cares.
"This will be troublesome..." said Violet in a tired voice.
I asked her, "Why is that?"
"Look carefully." Violet pointed at Kitsuneki.
Besides the furry fox himself, apparently another trick was up his furry sleeves. Colourful small flames were floating about all over him. These flames were called foxfire. Visually, it looks just like any other fire except that it comes in a variety of colours ranging from red, orange, blue and green. Only for of those. There isn't any rainbow coloured fire though. That's a whole different fire for another story unfortunately.
"Foxfire...This is going to be annoying isn't it?" I sighed.
White was confused, "Why? Is something wrong with that fire? They don't seem very dangerous at all."
"Maybe you should take a closer look?" I mischievously said that.
And unsurprisingly enough for me, he went into the battlefield without even knowing what the heck is a foxfire. White ran toward Kitsuneki and used his wind magic to push him away from the ground which causes him to jump at an inhuman level of height. He made another of those wind drills on both of his hand and tried to drill through the fox. But before he was even able to do that, one of the foxfires moved toward him and stopped his assault by pushing him away. White flew metres away from us and landed on the ground.
"Darn, I thought I could just suck up the fire and use it against that fox."
Violet helped him to get up and told him, "Foxfires were usually used to trick humans off of their paths at night. Other times it is used to lure curious humans into the darkness towards a group of hungry Yokai. Following a foxfire usually leads a person to some place that he or she should not be. And what happened just now was that, the foxfire was trying to lead you to a different path."
"So what is it now? Is it a maze or something?"
"It's not really a maze idiot..." I sighed at White's stupidity. "There's no maze over here. Watch this."
I shot an elemental bullet toward Kitsuneki. This time he blocked the bullet using all of his seven tail.
"See? All you have to do is to not get close to the foxfires."
"But what if they are coming for us?" White pointed his index finger.
I turned my head to wherever he pointed at and saw three foxfires were fast approaching toward me. I used my own water manipulation magic and turned the snows under me into water and made a protective barrier. The foxfires crashed into the barrier. But, they weren't completely destroyed yet as they suddenly tried to push through the barrier. To my own surprise, the foxfires had a very high strength. They were able to make me move from my stance a metre behind. It only gets worse when more foxfire crashed into my barrier.
"Yumiko!" Violet quickly goes into her liquid shape and sliced the foxfires in half with her quick rapid water slice. "Are you okay?"
I breathed heavily and said, "Yes...I'm fine..."
But then Violet says, "You don't look fine at all, actually."
"Oh shut up." I gently pushed her away with my hand. "White! What are you standing there? Do something as well, you fool!"
"You don't have to be so angry about it though." White made a frown on his face as he said that.
He then looked away from me and turns his head back to Kitsuneki and his foxfires. He decided to use lightning strikes to fight against Kitsuneki. However, the fox was quick enough to dodge all of his lightning strikes. White keeps throwing his lightning strikes at the fox but to no avail at all. He then tried to do a combination of time stopping and lightning strikes. White successfully hit him with that tactic but Kitsuneki however doesn't seem to be damaged at all from the attack. This might take a long time if the situation will be like this forever.
"I'm just going to run out of energy if I keep doing this..." said White as tries to avoid the foxfires around us.
Then suddenly, a quick gunshot managed to stumble the fox for a few seconds. We looked behind us and saw Ethereal with her big rifle.
"I made my way here as fast as I could, guys."
"What about the other Yokai? And Zenith?" White questioned her.
"Zenith is with Lin. Don't worry. And as for the rotten Yokai..."
From a distance we were able to see the boys from our dorm were fighting against the surrounding Yokai. Aspye used his quick reflex to dodge and remove a Yokai's brief memory. This enables him to knock them out of their sense before they even realize anything. Kallen was using his shadows ability to trap them and choke them to their death with his shadow grip. Hemrietta mowed most of the Yokai with the help of his Dinosaur DNA. Azreal on the other hand, simply slice and diced through his enemy using his scythe.
"That's one thing out of the way." Ethereal stretches a bit as she said that.
Then I said, "I knew they would be useful."
White gave an audacious sigh and said, "You only think about others usefulness to you, Yumiko..."
"And what about you and your Team Stardust? Didn't you use them to get through that Magic Duel?"
"We didn't win 1st place."
I gladly laughed at him and said, "Well to bad because you probably used them the wrong way. That's why you guys lose."
"I believe we did a good job in The Magic Duel. We survived until The Semi-Final. I think that's good enough."
"Not good enough. Especially when I'm one of the winners of The Magic Duel in my school."
Ethereal realizing what was going tried to stop our argument, "Hey, you two...Maybe you guys should stop fighting..."
"She's right, Yumiko. Please stop now..." Violet agrees with Ethereal as well.
"What's wrong with you two? Is there a bigger threat?"
"Um...yeah..." Ethereal slowly pointed toward Kitsuneki.
Kitsuneki was charging up a tremendous amount of chaotic energy at his mouth. Some of the foxfires were even absorbed into the chaotic mass of energy that the fox was charging up. Before we were even able to do anything about it, he already finishes his charges. He releases the charge by howling out huge chaotic beam towards us. Everyone was in range of his chaotic beam. We didn't have enough time to escape from his beam.
But then quite suddenly, White 'blinked' in front of the beam and stopped the beam with his own bare hands. At the time of his 'blink', the beam was still at a smaller size before it was supposed to expand bigger as the distance increase. The beam was still pulsing as White hold on to the chaotic beams energy. White's draconic aura continues to pulse around himself along with a few visually green winds and a green electricity coursing through his body. The beam finally stops after half a minute have passed.
White was still standing after the attack. Barely, as his draconic power suddenly switched off and he quickly fell down to the snowy ground.
"White!" Ethereal ran toward him as soon as she saw that.
Violet then told me, "He's not dead yet, Yumiko. I can still feel some Infinitum in him."
I responded, "Why do you even need to tell me that? He deserved that..."
But as much as a tough guy I acted, I actually just lost one useful person that I could take advantage of against The Chaos Shogun. Now we have to somehow handle the rest against this chaotic Yokai...
