Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Awake

Rachel suddenly awoke and sat up, throwing off her covers as she gasped for air and held her chest. 'That dream...' She thought to herself as she shuddered and her gasps became softer. 'It pisses me off!' She thought as she grabbed her pillow and threw it at the window, though her young body is incapable of throwing it far enough to reach the edge of the bed.

The door to her room was opened and a maid entered. "Mistress Rachel, are you alright?" She asked as she looked at Rachel's angry expression and heavy breaths.

"Leave." She said.

"But miss-" The maid spoke.

"I'm fine, leave." Rachel said sternly.

"Yes, Mistress..." The maid said as she exited, leaving the door open, just a crack.

'Ever since reincarnating, I've been plagued by nightmares of those last days... It's really starting to piss me off!' She thought to herself as she gripped the sheets on her bed. She sighed as she released her grip. 'Whatever, it'll just distract me if I keep thinking about it. I'm up already, so I might as well start my day...' She thought to herself as she moved her focus to the door. "You may enter." She stated.

Quickly, the maid from before entered and bowed. "What may I do for you, Mistress Rachel?" She asked.

"Have food and a bath prepared, I'll be starting my day early." She said.

"Are you certain, Mistress Rachel?" She asked. Rachel glared at the maid. "R-right away, Mistress Rachel." She said with a sense of dread filling her body. She left the room.

'This body was born a little over a year ago, since then I have experienced many things I would have preferred to never experience, however, I have.' Rachel thought as she remembered how her diapers were changed and she was breastfed.

'Just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable... Of course, the rape and torture in my past life aren't forgotten either, as much as I'd like to believe they are, nightmares plague me.' Rachel thought to herself as she climbed out of her bed.

As she touched the ground, the maid from before walked in. "Mistress Rachel, I have informed the cooks and the bath is drawn." She said as she tried to find where Rachel is.

"Good, bring me to the bath." Rachel said as she walked to the end of the bed, using the bed as a counterbalance for her unsteady stride.

"Of course, Mistress Rachel." The Maid said as she walked over to Rachel and picked her up. She was brought to the bath and was bathed, she then ate and, once finished, looked at the maid.

"What is it like outside at the moment?" She asked.

"It snowed last night, so I imagine there is a layer of snow at the moment." The maid stated.

"I see. Later today, I wish to go outside." She stated.

"Yes, Mistress Rachel." The Maid stated

"Can you read?" Rachel asked as she looked at her plate and pondered a few ideas.

"No, Mistress, I cannot." She responded.

"I see. Find a servant in the manor who can." She said.

"Yes, Mistress Rachel." The Maid said with a curtsy then exited.

A while later, just as Rachel was finishing her food, the servant came back. "You wished to see me, Mistress Rachel?" A butler asked.

"You can read?" She asked without looking at him as she set down her cutlery, then dabbed her mouth with her napkin.

"Yes, Mistress." He responded. Rachel set down her napkin gently.

"Teach me." She stated as she turned her head to face him.

"Such a request would have to go through your father, Mistress Rachel." He responded. She considered his words for a moment.

"Fine. In about two hours, bring me to my father, I will speak with him." She stated.

"Yes, Mistress." He said with a bow, then left.

"Now then, Maid." Rachel said abruptly as she glanced at the woman who was standing next to the Butler.

"Y-yes, Mistress?" She said with a slight stutter.

"Are any of my siblings awake at this point in time?" She asked.

"Not at the moment, Mistress." She responded.

"Unfortunate..." She stated boredly as she sat back in her seat and turned her head back to the table. 'Well, not that I'm actually interested in interacting with them. That said, as the third daughter, it's important for me to build relationships and show my worth through intellect and or skill...' She thought as the maid went over and picked up her plate, then exited the room.

'I'd like to stay away from the prospect of a political betrothal for at least ten years, but as things stand, I'm a pawn, something to be used to push forward my family's political standing, of course, the best thing about pawns is that they can become queens.' She continued.

'It's for this reason that I wish to develop relationships with my siblings, one of them is the heir, and the others will likely have more sway over matters than me for a while, and since that is the case, if they enjoy my company or think positively, I could have sway over matters through them.' She thought as the maid returned.

"Take me to the playroom." Rachel stated.

"Yes, Mistress Rachel." The Maid responded as she walked over to Rachel, then picked her up and carried her out of the room.
