Chapter 1 - Prologue

In a remote village by the seaside, a lonely shop that could only be seen by paying close attention to the area it resided in stood quietly amongst the lively street. If one were to stare at it a bit longer, they could perhaps catch a glimpse of the shopkeep's shadow through the only visible window at the front.

Misha was one such person. He had been running late to his psychology class and knew that if he skipped one more time the professor might finally fail him. So, being the person that he was, he woke up ten minutes before class started. The immense anxiety of failing and then being subjugated to being smacked with a shoe by his mother allowed him to somehow get to the bus stop a minute before it came. In which during this time he saw an inexplicable shop across the street.

Inexplicable due to the fact that Misha had lived in this town all twenty-two years of his life and had never once seen this shop before.

"What the hell?" He muttered.

Not only had he never seen this shop before- the shop was too strange! As he kept looking, he saw how the building seemed to be on the verge of collapse. The sign by the door was swinging side to side with no accompanying breeze and the only thing he could make out from the moldy looking wood were some blood red characters he couldn't read. The lights looked to be off by looking through the window, yet he could somehow see the shadow of someone inside. The creepiest part was that Misha knew whoever was inside the shop was most definitely staring at him.

Suddenly he heard the screeching of tires and he snapped back to reality. The bus had finally come and Misha exhaled the breath he didn't know he was holding. He glanced back across the street to look at the shop once more, but it was gone.

...........................................

After the young man wearily got on the bus and left, the shopkeep across the street smiled ruefully and then looked back down to the item he had been polishing.

"Ahhh... Why the fuck am I back here again?"
