Thankfully Katalina had finished all of the tedious work in advance, as I had to do was visit the place and make sure I knew where my classroom and living accommodation were located.
"Mr. Harris, I do hope you're paying attention to what I am showing you."
"Yes, yes, of course." I replied half-heartedly as I let out a slight yawn.
Of course just because I agreed to Katalina's request didn't mean I was happy about it. Because of her antics I wasn't even able to fully rest before the mission: that's what really ticked me off.
I glanced at Katalina for support but she just shot a glare at our guide and mouthed, "Listen to what he is saying."
Our orientation guide, an middle-aged man named Sam, could only sigh at my apparent lack of enthusiasm.
"Teenagers these days. They always seem to carry that awkward sense of nonchalance even in the most important of situations."
"Well I can assure you Mr. Griffin that my protégé will live up to New Ragna expectations regardless of his age." Katalina tried reassuring the him but he just seemed to chuckle at the attempt.
"Of course, his accomplishments far overshadow the lackluster show he's put on for me today." he stopped walking and patted me on the shoulder.
"I'm sure it was tough, being a student of Caroline's," Sam's eyes drifted in thought for a few moments before he bent over and whispered in my ear, "As her former classmate I can understand."
"Hey, what is that idiot saying to you Grayson?" I heard Katalina ask in an annoyed tone.
"Ah, it wasn't anything special," he answered before I could speak. "Just trying to empathize with a fellow kindred soul."
Sam then continued on with the orientation, showing us every single room in the building from the large and luscious lunchroom to the exquisitely clean bathrooms generously scattered within the campus. Though I tried to to keep an interested look on my face while walking with Sam, quite frankly I was exhausted.
As much as I wanted to listen to what he was saying, the only thing could manage was keeping my body upright. Thankfully before I collapsed of fatigue, the orientation ended.
"The last thing I will show you is the office wing on your right. Inside will be the office's of every teacher on campus as well as Headmaster Angela Wilson's quarters. The nurses office is also located here if you are in need of assistance."
He then closed the pamphlet he had used to guide us around campus and turned to face us.
"So once I show you your office the tour will be concluded. I have shown you all that all I was required," he glanced at Katalina and then back at me. "Do you have any questions?"
"No, no. I think we're good." I said, winking at Katalina.
Katalina didn't seem to understand what my wink meant, but thankfully she remained quiet.
"If you two don't have anymore questions, then I will escort you back to the entrance."
While Sam lead us back to the lobby, I slowed my steps so I could walk with Katalina instead of Sam.
"Caroline....is that another one of your alias's?" I asked.
"Yes but unlike the flimsy one I used back when we lived in New Monaco, this one is pretty solid."
As we neared the lobby, the cacophony of faint whispers that I had assumed was Sam giving us another fun fact became less of a whisper and more of a constant muted shout.
"What the, what is that racket?" Sam grumbled as he opened up the doors to the lobby.
FLASH
A bright wall of white light washed over us....followed by another, and another one, and another.
I put up my hands to block out the flashes of light, but after a few moments they stopped; and when I let down my hands I got a glimpse of what the source of all of that noise was.
When we walked into the building it was nothing short of barren, but now it was anything but that. The moment me and Katalina entered the room, we were besieged by the hundreds of reporters who were lying in wait.
"Dr. Caroline, is it true that you donated 15 million dollars to the academy?"
"Grayson, do you know what class you'll be teaching yet"
"Caroline, have you thought about joining the school's staff along with your student?"
As the questions continued to ring out at us, I glanced at Katalina who was coincidentally already looking at me.
"I should've said this earlier," she mouthed. "But 'Caroline' might be a bit popular amongst this world's residents."
I looked at the hundreds of reporters surrounding us and looked back at her.
"A bit you say?"
