the guard stood in front of the goblin with his sword drawn, the guard looked scared and he wielded his sword as if its his first real fight. the guard let out a scared battle cry and accidentally hit a rock instead the goblin and the sword flew from his shaking hand. the guard took his sword threw it at the goblin and ran away from the cave, leaving hil to face the goblin alone with his pickaxe.
hil wasnt afraid at all, yes he was skinny, hungry, scrawny and a slave, but he also had his fair share of experience about monsters and life. he started to walk towards the goblin. it was just your everyday goblin, green, pretty short, ugly and stupid.
thats why hil decided he could easily deal with him, he walked to the goblin and whispered: "skill: dragon tamer".
hil's eyes shined in a golden purple color for a brief second, and it disappeared.
"huh? why i cant use it?" he asked himself in confusion
the skill hil tried to use was one he knew very well and if the skill failed he would know it, but now it felt as he just couldnt use it. however, after some time hil came to a conclusion
"ooohhh, i get it. its because im a really very weak human. in that case i should use, uhh..." hil couldnt figure out what to do, it was his first time here, he didnt even know if he could use any of his skills.
what if this world didnt have mana? what if in this world skills, abilities and magic are banned? later he decided its okay to even slaughter an entire village here since hes in a cave without any other soul, just him and the goblin.
after some time hil decided to use a lesser version of his skill.
"skill: tame" he whispered.
hil's eyes shined in a faint purple, as if he was about to cry and held the tears. after he looked directly at the goblin the goblin's eyes shined as well and now he was hil's goblin.
"haha, a first pet. well i better just kill it. wouldnt want to rise any suspicions this early, itll be fine if ill just become the new guard right?"
hil sneaked behind the goblin that now stood still and picked up the guard's sword, then he quickly pierced the goblin's heart from behind and the goblin fell to the ground. the only sound that was heard upon his death was the silent *thud* that happened when he hit with the ground. not even a single drop of blood fell from the body, the only blood was on the sword, dripping slowly and after a few minutes a puddle of blood was present too.
"well i really dont like to do it but im sure he would fetch me a dinner at the very least." while saying that hil walked to the fallen body and picked the goblin by his legs and dragged him to the entrance
upon exiting from the cave, hil looked at the guard who escaped like a coward from the danger with a pitying look in his eyes. after that, he looked at the rich man and with the goblin behind him. when he was close enough to start a private conversion, he stopped dragging the goblin and looked at the rich man with a well deserved pride in his eyes.
"so, lets get to the point. i couldnt not notice the fact im a slave, i assume im yours. so, how much should i pay if i wanna buy a fellow slave here?"
the rich man looked at the slave without a hint of understanding in his eyes, a slave talking directly to him? asking how much a slave costs? that was his first time witnessing such a thing.
"f... f... for a slave?" the rich man stuttered, he still couldnt face the fact a slave was talking to him. "tha~ that should be... about erm... uh... 10 silvers?"
"i see, and how much are you paying that guard for a day?"
"a day? that would be 50 coppers, 1 silver if he killed a monster, but that rarely happens"
after hearing how much the guard was getting for a day, hill tossed the dead goblin to the man's feet while saying: "well as you can see i think you owe me 1 silver"
the rich man was stunned, a slave bargaining with him? and it looks like the slave even knows how to bargain, it wasnt like someone who read some books or was in some conversations, no, that kind of tone and confidence could only come from experience. but how such a young slave could even know how to bargain? little did he know hil has more years of experience of bargain than he could count.
