The boss threatened Mrs. Jean with a knife to kill her. Old man Haufen tried to rush out to save her but was stopped by the boss's men.
Just when the boss was about to kill her, the ropes holding Mrs. Jean's hands went up in flames, releasing her from bondage.
All her fingertips had small flames on them, and she rushed in and pushed the fat boss down. She then drove her burning fingertips onto the boss's face. The boss started screaming in agony as his face started to burn. Two gangsters came to save their chief and pushed Mrs. Jean aside.
"I am no damsel in distress!" Mrs. Jean yelled proudly.
You could see in Haufen's face how he was proud of his wife.
"Get her. GET THAT BITCH AND GUT HER," the boss yelled with a badly burnt face.
The two gangsters who had saved their boss now charged toward Mrs. Jean with knives. She was completely defenseless and didn't have any more strength to summon more of her divine power.
At just the last moment, Leif came flying from the air. He threw himself onto the gangsters saving Mrs. Joan in the nick of time.
"See, guys! Our boss is here fighting his ass off! Aren't we a little ashamed of ourselves that we are not here fighting alongside him?" Leif yelled.
At that moment, every door and window opened, and members of the black rat gang flooded in. A large-scale melee battle ensued. The mood in the air changed quickly, and the sons of the red moon gang members were quickly getting demoralized.
Even though the black rat gang members were not known for their fighters, they fought like wild animals, like wild feral rats. They were all motivated seeing their boss fighting on the front lines.
Edward was stunned. Mere gangsters showed such loyalty. He had never seen anything like that. He then looked at Rufus, who was ready to continue fighting. He then realized what Rufus's true power was. He was able to win so many people's hearts.
"Let me then ask you this, Edward," Rufus asked from a stunned Edward, who was not expecting him to ask anything from him.
"Why are you fighting?"
Edward didn't know what to answer.
"I do not have any reason. I currently fight for money, but to be honest, I am constantly fighting for a reason to be able to stay away from my home. Money pays for my expenses so I can stay here. Hopefully living peacefully one day."
Rufus was confused. He didn't understand what he meant by, being able to stay away from home.
"What a stupid reason. Home is not here or there. Home is where people are waiting for you. It's a place where you go, and people are happy to see you."
Rufus was implying to those times when he lived with Harley and Haley and how Harley was always waiting for him and would get mad if he was late.
Edward was astonished. He saw a small memory from his past for a glimpse.
~~
"Don't worry Edward. I am here always waiting for you," a woman said to him in a gentle voice.
~~
He then jumped back to reality. Edward started to laugh frantically. He was laughing so hard that everyone stopped fighting.
"Interesting. You truly are the most interesting person I know. I Edward the black prince am so glad that I get to share this battlefield with you," Edward said happily and primed his stance for the final attack.
Rufus also organized his thoughts for the final push. Both lunged at each other with superhuman speed. Edward rammed his sword trying to hit Rufus with the point of his sword. Rufus instead attacked the sword head-on with an open palm. When the sword made contact, the blade shattered into small metallic dust that sparkled in the air.
Rufus then, with his other hand, punched Edward in the face. His helmet exploded and revealed his face to everyone. All the gangsters saw Edward flying through the air. The most heartbroken was the boss of the sons of the red moon.
When Edward landed on the floor, he was unconscious and badly injured. All the rival gang members started to flee, including the boss. The day had ended as the black rat gang's victory.
Everyone cheered, and old man Haufen hugged his wife, who then shared in the embrace. Haley instead rushed to Rufus, who was also severely hurt.
"Are you okay, Rufus?"
"Yeah, I am fine. No worries. Probably a couple of broken ribs, ten cut wounds, my hands are completely torn, and my left leg seems broken. My head hurts a lot, though...."
"How is that fine!?"
After the battle had ended, the unwounded people carried the not-so-lucky people into the bar old man Haufen. There, people tended to everyone's wounds with Haley only tending to Rufus.
They also brought back with them any of the sons of the red moon members that the other members left behind. The floor was filled with wounded, including Edward.
When night came, they let the wounded sleep on the bar's floor.
Edward then woke up in the middle of the night alone. He looked around and realized the black rat gang had taken him in.
He was surprised that they had tended to his injuries, but then saw other members of the sons of the red moon there. He then understood how Rufus was able to inspire such loyalty.
"He truly is an extremely kind, but naive person. Just like mom," thought Edward to himself.
He then heard a voice coming outside of the bar. Edward was still severely wounded, unable to move a muscle, and was forced to just lay on the mattress.
He heard a small struggle that ended quickly. He then saw two people sneaking inside the bar, careful not to wake anyone up.
One of them was the boss of the sons of the red moon. He then scouted around and saw Edward and immediately smiled. He quietly lurked at him, knife in hand.
"Aaaaah perfect. You are even awake. You know what you did. Because you lost, I lost EVERYTHING. After a loss like that, it will take me a lifetime to crawl my way back to the top of the underworld. So, you know what that means. You must dieeeeee.
"As I said, you must send a message of power that instills fear in men, and what better message than killing a person since they failed me."
The boss took out a knife and proceeded to cut open Edwards's throat with it. Instead of screaming for help, he just closed his eyes and accepted his death.
He then felt a small drip hitting his cheek. He opened his eyes and saw a hand coming out of the boss's chest. The hand had made a colossal hole puncturing the chest like it had exploded. It was Rufus who had woken up and killed the boss. The other member quickly and silently ran away.
"Aaaaaah. That was a close one," Rufus sighed in relief.
"Wha...Why…Why did you do that? I just tried a little while ago to kill you, and now you go and save me?"
"Hmmm…why? I mean, do I need to have a reason to save someone? I mean, obviously, you are not a bad person, or at least you do not come off as a bad person to me. I think everyone some way deserves to be saved and brought back up if they are down. At least that's what a very important person taught me."
Edward could not believe the words he was hearing. All he could think was how naive and stupid Rufus was. Then he was retaken for a moment to his past.
~~
"Our family prizes our loyalty above all else. But unlike your father, I believe we should get to choose who we follow. Loyalty is blind, but deciding who to follow blindly should not be done with our eyes closed,"
"But how are you supposed to be able to choose who give your loyalty to?"
"You know. He may be any person. A strong person, and even a very naive person. There is no way of knowing, but you feel it."
~~
Edward was smiling after he remembered that moment from his past.
"Hey, Rufus. Mind helping me with one thing? Can you get that iron glove from beside me and put it on my hand and then place that hand on my chest,"
Rufus did as he was asked.
"I also want to give my loyalty to you. I, Edward also known as Edward the black prince, will give my sword and life to you, Rufus,"
"Aaahh….eeeeh…okay," said Rufus, who couldn't again refuse something.
"But uhm mm…. I broke your sword, so. How will you give me your sword if it's in pieces?"
"Oh, shut up, it's a figure of speech, you idiot!" Yelled Edward, who also woke up many other wounded people sleeping on the floor.
