Marshall stretches and yawns as the light of the morning sun cracks through his blinds and hits his face. His mind is completely engulfed by the warmth of his blankets and pillow, until thoughts of last night start to rush through his head.
"I died?" Marshall whispers to himself as his heart starts beating through his chest. He opens his eyes wider then realizes that it was obviously just a dream. Of course a giant spider didn't murder him and he didn't easily rip it's legs off. He sat up slowly and looked around the room to see black stains on the floor. Marshall's heart dropped. "No, I probably just spilled some ink or something. Brains make all types of stuff up."
Marshall heard a knock on the door. "Huh.. Mom?" He said before realizing his mom wasn't home during the weekdays. It couldn't be a giant spider either, he thought, so there was nothing to worry about despite feeling very uneasy. The knob turned and the door was slowly opened. Who peaked their head in was to Marshall's surprise. "Wh-who are you?!?!" Marshall screeched as they walked in more revealing their body. "And why don't you have clothes on?!"
"Oh of course, it slipped my mind somehow, how rude of me." They responded with a soothing and surprisingly deep voice for a woman.
"Wha- you didn't answer my question..." Marshall said.
"I... am your reward. Marshall, please accept me as your concubine."
"Th-this isn't funny! Get the hell out of my house!" Marshall accidentally took a peek down there and new information was immediately presented to him. "WHA- YOUR A MAN? GET THE HELL OUT!"
"Marshall, calm down and look at your arms."
"WHAT ARE YOU-" Marshall looked at his arms and saw huge scars that look as if they'd been there for months. "How- the spider..." Marshall looked at the boy at his door. "How did they heal..."
"I am Norrustus Arachnus, your first concubine and healer. I have relieved you of your wounds, Marshall." The boy does a proper bow as he says this.
"Concu- no... get out of my house." Marshall gets up and walks slowly towards Norrustus. Norrustus looks up from his bow.
"I made you breakfast, Marshall." Norrustus smiles. Marshall quickly lifts his arms to grab him but he grabs Marshall's arms with more force than Marshall expected from a boy his size. Norrustus was about half a foot shorter and much skinnier with a feminine figure. Marshall tried to struggle but Norrustus was multitudes stronger than him. "I'll bring the breakfast to you, Marshall." Norrustus lets go and Marshall slowly walks back to his bed.
Moments later Norrustus enters the room with a plate with pieces of what seemed to be lobster or crab legs cooked. Marshall noticed that it wasn't crab or lobster, but the legs of the spider, roasted and put on a plate. It was real, the spider really had attacked him last night. He started to vividly remember the feeling of the sharp claws of the spider tearing through his flesh like paper and the horrible noise of bones being crushed and the oozing of black blood. He shook and grabbed his face as tears rushed out of his eyes. He could still feel the feeling of lance-like appendages plunged through his legs and warm liquid flooding under him.
Norrustus places the tray on a desk next to him and hurries to Marshall sitting down next to him and wrapping his arms around him.
"I was dead, I lost everything..." Marshall screeches between sobs and sniffles.
"Let me comfort you Marshall..." Norrustus grabs Marshall's arms and takes them off is face to look into his eyes.
"...Put some damn clothes on..." Marshall mutters.
"If that's what you wish." Norrustus stands in front of Marshall and spreads his arms wide. "HA!" a bright flash of light fills the room before fading away, revealing Norrustus' new magical attire.
"Why the hell are you wearing girl clothes?" Marshall asked.
Norrustus grinned. "I should be asking you that, teheheh!" He responded. "You should probably hurry up and eat breakfast, we'll be-"
"No! Answer the damn question!" Marshall shouted, dissatisfied with the answer.
"What I mean is, the answer lies within you." Norrustus replied. He notices Marshall sits still waiting for a satisfactory answer so Norrustus continued. "Well, there's a prophecy, that the spider killer gets to claim a reward for every spider slaughtered, which is a concubine. A spider human hybrid, created to be physically compatible with their owner."
"Every spider... there are more spiders?" Marshall muttered hoping the answer to be no.
"Yes, eight more, each growing in size until you reach the spider's head, and you are rewarded with a concubine each time." Norrustus answered.
"What do you mean... compatible? There'll be more of you?" Marshall asked.
"Well, I'm pretty much perfect for you aren't I? Hahaha!" Norrustus gave an indirect answer again. Marshall just looked down and processed the new information. "Well, here, this should help!" Norrustus snapped and a book appeared in the air before he caught it. He handed the book to Marshall.
"Ultima Morta Arachna... what the hell language is this?" Marshall said.
"Oh, hahaha! I forgot! You can't read that. I'll just hold it and read it for you when you have any questions." Norrustus grabbed the book out of Marshall's hands before it faded into light and vanished.
"Read me the whole thing now!" Marshall shouted.
"Oh no no, you need to get to school! We'll talk about it there!" Norrustus replied.
"Wait! You're not going to school with me!"
"I have to! I'm part of you now!"
To be continued.
