For the next half hour I have been explaining to George everything, starting from when I first met Collins to Nina and I going to his office to the scandal and Neal's involvement.
Safe to say he was not too pleased.
"You mean to tell me that you have been keeping this from me for weeks?" George bellowed.
"Yes" I said weakly.
"And now you tell me!" He yelled some more.
"I am sorry. I didn't think that it would turn into something like this. I honestly underestimated them" I said in defeat shaking my head.
"Well I should have been the first person you should have come to Di" he said in a much softer voice but it was still loud.
"I am almost a hundred percent sure that Collins and his family and friends are behind this" Nina said flicking her pen back and forth.
"I know they are" I confirmed.
"Look George I am sorry. I didn't want you to get involved. Not like this" I apologized.
"Oh I'm going to kill them. I am going to teach them never ever to flipping mess with my family. And after I am done no one will even dare think of messing with you" he declared then stormed out.
Please God don't let him go to prison I prayed. What is George up to?
Well turns out I didn't have to wait very long, because the next night I was in my living room with my mom who surprising took this whole ordeal rather well, Nina, Neal, his friend whose name was Reuben and my girlfriend Athena. All of us were waiting for the live airing of George one on one interview with the host of one of the hottest TV shows on the networks right now.
The boys were downstairs playing Fifa. David and Mario also took this issue rather well. I had to sit them down and explain the whole situation to them. Or as good as ten year old can understand without scaring them for life. They understood their mama had some people who were after her and they were making up these lies. I had to pull them out of school for their own safety but they were taking it well.
Sometimes I think that I was the child and they were the parent with how protective they are could be. I was truly blessed.
The show was starting and we had food and drinks to last us the entire episode.
Come on the show is starting" I shouted for Athena who was in the washroom.
The next half an hour was basically them joking around and advertising his latest movie and recapping the last time he was on the show. George was relaxed and so far there was no mention of the Diane scandal.
After the commercial on some new body wash for men they returned back to the show and the moment that I was waiting for finally came; The Diane Scandal.
"OK George let us talk about the elephant in the room" Jim said rubbing his hands.
"I wouldn't exactly call you an elephant J"
"Very funny. But no. I was talking about Diane Reyes. What is up with the situation?"
"What do you ever mean?" George questioned innocently.
"I mean maybe it is time to set the record straight"
"Well the record was never crooked to begin with " folding his arms.
"Haha. But really what is the deal?"
"The deal is that some guy decided to come atter a hardworking woman"
"You refrained from saying anything until now. Why was that?"
"Nothing. I just found it so amusing and didn't think the situation favored a comment. And quite frankly I think it's ridiculous to say the least that we would take his story so easily"
"Well we didn't. Jill Blanewood did" he joked, taking a shot at the Tv host.
"You can't really blame Jill. I mean America sent a child to do a man's job" he said shrugging his shoulder.
At this the audience oohed. And Jim started to laugh.
Shade.
"My goodness, that guy can through some shade" Athena laughed, causing all of us to laugh.
"No I am serious. I feel bad for her. I mean you have the biggest fraud sitting on your couch and you don't even interview him? That's got to suck for her ratings" he said shaking his head in mock pity.
"That is true" Jim agreed laughing. "So we did some digging.
The guy Adam Copper real name is Tityo Longe and he is wanted for five counts of art fraud. Plus he is an imposter"
"And she is bashing Diane for being a fraud" George snorted.
"But he had a lot of people fooled. Not just Jill"
"You know I can understand that you were tricked and all that.
But my problem with Jill was her not checking her facts. She should have had the interview without drawing any conclusion, especially when you don't have all the facts. I mean her partner Scott was more cautious when dealing with the situation"
"That is true. And she had some pretty harsh things to say about Diane. Some of which are being proved that they are in fact false"
"I was actually taking a break from shooting a scene when my assistant showed me the interview. I thought it was really entertaining, especially her idea that we are no longer business partners. Which is completely untrue. We still work together but she has struck out on her own. But what did get to me was when Jill crossed the line and took a jab at Diane's heritage. I have been to Columbia and I love the culture and the people. And have much respect for the people I met. So I found that "Telemundo" comment completely ignorant, disrespectful and unacceptable. That was too far"
"I have to agree with that"
"I think the funny part was when he was arrested on the show" Jim laughed
"You certainly can't write stories like that. But I think the funniest part was when she claimed that she was a woman's right activist. Yet she pronounced judgement on a woman without a proper trial. I mean you quickly pronounce a woman a tramp why just because she is a woman? How is that equality?"
"Well women have come very far. Now they are the prosecutor, judge and executioner all rolled in one" Jim joked.
"Jill took to Twitter yesterday to announce her sincere apologies to Diane. Do you know what Diane has to say about it?" Showing the message the Jill had posted to her fans and to Diane.
"Well I've learned a long time ago, never to speak for Diane Reyes. But I can say that she found this situation appalling.
This guy comes in claiming that she ripped off his story and everything, but what he didn't know was that I actually never hired Diane for her first story. It was not my type. It was the fifth one she did before I produced. Plus, when writing a screenplay and trying to get a loan, the bank goes through everything you have ever written, to avoid situation like this. Plus we have certain techniques to make sure that things like this don't pop up"
"I know about some of those techniques. Like writing in a different language or patenting the book or withholding certain facts. So is Diane, dating anybody?" changing the subject.
At this George laughed. "Well I know for sure that she is not nor has she ever dated any actor in Hollywood-"
"Really? She has never?" He asked again.
"Nope" shaking his head.
"So she never had an affair with Alex or Robert?"
"Oh come on. They are good friends. And besides Roberts wife was always present whenever the five of us hung out"
"So what about all those images of her sneaking out and being in the company of another man?"
"Oh please its the angle that the pictures were taken. She hates publicity and avoids it like the plague. She is most of the time with her mother or staying with me" he said nonchalantly.
"You and her are close aren't you?" Jim laughed
Taking a sip of water "Well of course I have to be close to her.
She is my fiancèe"
"I am sorry what?" Jim looked at him incredulously.
And damn so was I. I was staring at the screen with my eyes popping out of my head and my mouth open. Everyone was slowly turning their heads to look at me in shock. Nina and my mom were nodding their heads at me in glee.
"Fiancee? What does that even mean" Jim asked him.
"It means she is the woman I am about to marry. We will be married and she is going to be my wife and down the road we will hopefully have more kids. I think seven ought to be enough, don't you think?" slowly speaking to Jim as if he were a child.
The room was silent and then it erupted in cheers and hoots.
"Congrats. The bachelor George Sinclair is about to be tied down"yelled shaking his hand.
"You heard it here first folks, George Sinclair is engaged.
Goodnight everybody!"
Then the channel went to closing credits and then ads.
Everyone was still looking at me. I finally spoke for the first time since his announcement.
"I am so gonna kill that bastard if it is the last thing I do" I growled out.
