"You see, although I have been mentioning that there were more races than the current ones during the ancient eras and beyond the era of disconnection, one thing you should know is that humans, elves, dwarves, mer, and univir have always been present in Futhark." Blake didn't know where Lynn was going with that explanation, but he wasn't going to interrupt her. "And that is due to the relationship between these races and the guardians of the world."
What Lynn was about to say was based on one of the oldest stories in Futhark, and it was something that everyone deeply believed even though not even the elder dragons had given truth to it.
"But what kind of relationship can the Futhark races have with the gods themselves? Well, that's because each one of them was born thanks to them." At this point, Lynn felt like one of those storytellers who liked to entertain people while they enjoyed a nice meal. "It is said that, at the beginning of everything, when nothing was yet defined, runic energy was born as a kind of being that wandered through the infinite universe without a clear objective until it managed to develop its sensitivity. Over the years, which cannot be precisely defined, the rune energy had gained its own intelligence, to the point where he was able to absorb the knowledge of what was possibly a plane of existence beyond the comprehension of which any being in this world could attain."
Although Blake had understood that Lynn was explaining some kind of story, he couldn't help but be interested in the depth of it.
"All of this made the runic energy find the purpose it had never had in the first place, being in that empty universe, being the only thing that could fill it, and with the knowledge it had acquired, it wanted to create what it could call as its home." A Lynn would have liked to set the room a little so that her explanation had more impact, but it was enough seeing that Blake was quite focused on her. "So it began its arduous and uncertain task, which began as the creation of a planet, but as a beginner's first job, it wasn't what it really wanted, but time was the least it had to worry about, so it kept trying, until after six not-so-satisfying attempts, the planet we now know was born."
"So that's why there are seven planets in the solar system?" Blake couldn't bear to ask that question as he remembered the information Lynn had told him in the beginning.
"Hehe, I'm glad you were able to relate it, and yes, what I'm telling you is one of the oldest theories about the creation of the world that we know, you don't have to believe it completely, but it's quite useful for what I want you to understand." Blake felt a little embarrassed as he realized he got too lost in the story. "Well, once the runic energy was satisfied with its creation, the next thing that plagued it was that that planet was just as simple as the rest, without anything that could compare with that knowledge he had received, so, after a long period of time considering it, which had been enough for the changes that the runic energy had caused to generate more and more of them until the point of some primordial laws being created, it decided on the next step it needed to encompass."
Although it was somewhat difficult for Blake to imagine scenarios of the magnitude that Lynn was describing, he could still do it in a simple way so as not to lose the thread of the story.
"And that step was the creation of the eight guardians of the world." And just hearing that, Blake's eyes widened with complete interest. That was another of the questions that he had quite in mind, he knew of the existence of four guardians, and since he understood that each of them represented one of the elements, he could guess how many there were in reality. "Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Darkness, Light, Space and Life. Each of the guardians represented each element, and each of them had their own task given by the runic energy, and in turn, the guardians referred to it by the name that it had chosen... Futhark."
The idea was quite basic, since the runic energy, or Futhark, needed to perform many tasks for what it wanted to achieve, it used part of its power to create the beings that would protect and fulfill the tasks that were given to them to develop the world it wanted to.
"As I told you before, unfortunately we only know the names and are aware of four of those guardians, while any records of the remaining ones seem to have been lost over time, perhaps only the current guardians will know something about it, but it is not something we can poke around in." Blake understood that point, and although it also bothered him a little that he didn't know anything about the other guardians, he had to accept the fact that it wasn't something that would be answered by just going to some kind of library. "In summary, each guardian fulfilled their objectives while providing their powers for the development of the world. The guardian of earth forming the continents we know, the guardian of water filling the oceans and rivers, the guardian of wind controlling the gales and disasters that hit the already created earth, and the guardian of fire concentrating most of its power together with Futhark to create the sun that illuminated the darkness that remained constant in the world."
Each of the descriptions was simple, but Blake could understand each of them and accept them even though he might only be based on the stories from long ago.
"As for the other guardians, although the intervention that each one had can be assumed, there is one who is the most popular and who triggered what I am trying to explain. It is the one who presides over the cycle of life, so he can only refer to a specific god… The guardian of life."
