Blake dropped the letter because he felt like his head had just shaken as a sharp pain appeared. Daria didn't ignore that and reached for the letter that was now on the ground and then tucked it behind her as a nervous look appeared on her face.
"Wh-what were you doing, Blake?!" That question was the first thing that popped into Daria's mind and she couldn't help but say it. She had just returned home after enjoying a delicious breakfast at the restaurant, her personal schedule was full of many jobs that she still had to finish, but the scene she saw once she entered her home made her panic.
It didn't take her much thought to know what Blake was reading. This morning she had received that letter and had read all the contents of it, later she would send a new one to make some things clear to her dear little sister, but now she was busier with the situation in which she found herself.
"I... I really don't have any excuses..." Blake became aware of his surroundings again, the little disorientation he experienced because of Daria's hammer gradually fading away, and as he said, he had no excuse to give her, so it was best to speak honestly. "I was looking for you and I didn't find you at home, I was thinking of waiting for you, but my curiosity was stronger... I'm sorry, Daria!"
Blake ducked his head from her as guilt hit him suddenly. He now understood that he had overreacted as he noticed the complicated feelings that Daria was experiencing.
"..." For her part, she remained silent, which was something very strange for her since most of the time she was like a container full of energy, which she did not hesitate to show whenever she could.
She was watching Blake's state, and despite her nervousness slowly turning into anger directed at him, Daria calmed down a bit as she felt his honesty as well as analyzing the situation. She might have read that letter that was private, but there wasn't something she wanted to hide.
"You'd better be honest… And I'm also sorry I hit you with my hammer…" It could be said that Daria accepted Blake's apology, but it was true that she had hurt him, so she started to feel guilty.
"No, you don't need to apologize. I really deserve it." Blake got up from Daria's bed after saying that. He'd seen Daria do a little apologetic curtsy, but Blake felt there was no need for her to feel guilty.
"Well... maybe you're right." Daria had calmed down enough, though the memory was still fresh in her head. "How far did you manage to read?"
"Almost nothing..." Blake was about to lie unconsciously, but Daria's judging look still hadn't left her face. "Well... Actually, I think I read everything..."
"Sigh... I supposed so." Daria just shook her head before starting to speak on her own. "Do you remember the painting I had done about my sister? Well, she was thanking me for it."
"Yeah... That was pretty clear to me." Blake knew it was better to leave the subject of the letter aside, but his curiosity was still present even in that situation. "By the way, I feel that your sister is quite nice, or well, that's what I felt with all the words she wrote, it also shows that she cares about you."
"That alone makes me realize that you read all the contents thoroughly…" Daria believed that Blake needed to test the hardness of her hammer one more time, but she also knew that he was trying to lighten the mood a bit. "Margaret."
"Margaret?" That was a name that Blake had never heard in his life, although as we all know… There aren't many memories that he could rely on to say that.
"It's my sister's name, I think it doesn't hurt that you know it" Blake then let out an understood expression and that he wouldn't forget it in the future.
"By the way, Daria. I'm curious about something else." It seemed that Blake had forgotten what happened earlier and was just using Daria to satisfy some doubts he had about what was in the letter. "Your sister mentioned something about one of the Elder Dragons."
Now Daria was a little surprised, not exactly by Blake's words, but by the fact that he had made the contents of the letter the main topic of conversation.
"Yes, that's because, in the town where she lives, one of the Elder Dragons also lives, Ventuswill to be exact." That was something that not everyone was aware of, Daria had no reason to mention it everywhere since she knew it was something delicate, and being an elf, she subconsciously had a lot of respect for the guardian of the wind. "It might not be such a big secret, especially in Gebu, but you better not let it slip away, I just say this because you are my dear assistant, and although some of my confidence in you is a bit shaken, I know that you can make some mistakes from time to time and I am considerate enough to give you another chance."
That peculiar attitude of Daria had shown itself again once everything seemed to have reached a point that both she and Blake could call "normal." Blake was a little happy about it, besides the fact that Daria's sister's relationship with one of the Dragon Elders became clear to him, and although it wasn't something very serious, he was still surprised.
Just thinking that he might be close to the so-called gods that protected all of Futhark was something unthinkable for the current him… Though that feeling didn't last long enough before it became a little worry. Blake had many oddities with him, it was true that he had been able to hide them relatively well, but if he ever had the chance to meet one of the guardians, he felt that all those secrets would be fully exposed... And his future might not be very pleasant...
