"And that would be basically all." As the time when Sakuya explained some information about the instructors, Blake paid close attention and was able to complement the information that Nana had told him with what he had received from Sakuya.
Nana's words were easy to understand, but she introduced Blake to a few interesting concepts overall. In the case of the instructors, they performed a simple task: to bond with the monsters in different ways, but one of those, and in Nana's words, the most important was understanding the monsters' emotions.
This meant managing to gain their trust and not treating them as if they were mere tools or something like that since the bond that could be formed depended a lot on the monster's attitude towards you.
"So, what area would you like to specialize in, Blake?" Nana's question made a lot of sense to Blake.
Nana had also explained to him the goal that various instructors had, in addition to being able to somehow communicate with monsters, they also focused on different areas.
Some instructors raised monsters to obtain raw materials from them (eggs, milk, honey, etc.) or help with some specific tasks, instructors who supported towns and cities to control surrounding monsters, and instructors who made use of monsters as battle partners, the latter being the rarest area for instructors.
"The idea I had from the beginning was to tame a monster so that it could help me on my farm, but I think it would also be nice to get something from it, I'm sure raising it will not be free." Blake shared his sincere thoughts, and Nana did not find anything strange in his words, after all, her family was in charge of raising monsters and she knew that it was not cheap.
Nana had nodded to Blake's idea and was about to say something else, but his voice came to her again, only with an interesting question.
"Nana, sorry if it's sudden, but... Can monsters reproduce?" Blake asked that question because it was something that had been on her mind ever since Nana started explaining some things about monsters, and he didn't really have an answer because of some aspects of it.
"That... It's kind of complicated actually..." Nana closed her eyes before letting out those words.
Blake noticed the strange expression on her face, but before he could say anything else, she began with a new explanation to properly answer Blake's question.
Unlike the ordinary living beings that inhabited Futhark, it was obvious that the monsters were somewhat different from them… First of all, there was a knowledge that anyone was aware of, and that was the fact that monsters did not originally belong to Futhark.
These originated in the forest of the beginnings and reached Futhark through the different summoning gates that appeared every day throughout the world. But there was a question because of that, how come Futhark's people were aware of the forest of beginnings?
There were different answers to that, on the one hand, there were the writings and records found of the disconnection era since in these the forest of beginnings was always mentioned in different ways, but what was more convincing was that Ventuswill, the only Elder Dragon that had communicated with Futhark people, had also mentioned the existence of this site and that it was indeed the original world of monsters.
With all that clear, there was something just as important. No one was really aware of whether monsters could die or not, this was because when someone defeated a monster, it would immediately turn into an orb of light indicating that it returned to the forest of beginnings, and sometimes they would leave some materials that were quite precious throughout the Futhark.
Although the instructors knew that, after many years, some monsters they cared for returned by themselves to the forest of beginnings without any way of predicting that, they took it as a sign that the monsters had used up the time that they could inhabit Futhark, or it was even said that this meant that their time of life had ended and they returned to the forest of the beginnings to rest for the last time.
So with all of that, comes the aspect of monster reproduction. This topic was just as tricky for a reason, and that was that monsters didn't have a gender so to speak, there were no males or females in the different monster species, so how did monsters reproduce?
How the instructors achieved this through a rather rare and difficult process, and that was because the help of a Rune wonder was necessary to carry it out. The Rune wonder had to elaborate a runic stone with the help of his powers through the Runeys, then the instructor would use that stone for a monster to impregnate some of its runic energy with that rock, and after a certain time, which always depended on the kind of monster, from that rock would be born the same kind of monster that fused its runic energy into the rock… So, because of that, the instructors who decided to reproduce monsters were even more scarce than the amount of Rune wonders in Futhark.
"I understand..." Blake had just felt how his brain was analyzing all of Nana's explanation since it seemed to be very important... Although several ideas also formed in his mind. 'Now I would be interested to know if I am really a Rune wonder...'
"Yeah, I don't even know of any instructor who bothers to try to reproduce their monsters since they don't see it as necessary, plus they can always try to tame more monsters of the same type simply by looking for them in the areas where they normally appear." Nana was quite Concentrated on that, although, before continuing, she remembered something interesting and instantly asked Blake a question. "By the way, do you know about the Univir?"
