As we all know, Blake wasted no time in agreeing with the system question causing the characteristic process of learning a new skill to repeat itself. Mei had dispelled her runic ability so that the claws that were covering her hands would disappear without a trace.
Now her gaze was focused on the state Blake was in. Since it wasn't the first time she'd seen him like that, it wasn't difficult for her to guess that he was understanding the ability she had just shown.
Mei was watching him at the same time that she was looking for some mysterious phenomenon during that process, but seeing that Blake just kept still with his eyes closed in total calm, it made her give up her ideas and just wait for the final result.
'Hmm... So it works that way.' All the information related to the runic ability was now in Blake's head, although now there were some questions that he didn't know what answers to give.
He had reopened his eyes at that moment to then realize that Mei's gaze was on him, he didn't need too much time to understand what she was expecting, so he didn't take long to show it.
Repeating the same scene, a torrent of water covered both of Blake's hands so that the next moment they gradually froze, forming the same image of ice claws that could possibly cut a sword.
Blake was looking closely at his hands with a surprised look, he had also realized that although his hands were covered in ice, he didn't feel any kind of cold, which was quite curious, but he couldn't appreciate that anymore as he hear Mei's voice.
"I noticed that it took you a little longer to fully understand it, was there something that bothered you?" Mei asked that question that, anyone other than Blake, nobody wouldn't really understand.
With just her words, Blake knew that she knew what was on his mind, so he wasn't nice and asked directly.
"Why can't I adapt the ability to another element?" Blake had realized that unlike some runic abilities he had learned, he couldn't adapt them to work with the use of other items. "The same goes for Ragna's abilities."
Since Blake had the ability to fully comprehend runic abilities, he was able to apply a change of elements with the use of them, a good example being Power wave since the blast that came out of his sword could be fire, wind, even the same time in a strange way... So it seemed strange to him not being able to do the same with other abilities.
"That's quite simple to explain, but why should I? You have your own master, don't you?" It really seemed that Mei had no intention of telling Blake the information he was looking for.
He felt something strange since now he have a curiosity that was difficult to bear, he had no way to force Mei to tell him, he also did not have something that could interest her, but right at that moment, something occurred to him that he did not know how it would turn out.
"Um… My master is your disciple, right? So I could consider you as my great master, don't you think I should have received the great master's kindness?" Blake's words might sound ridiculous to anyone else, but it seemed like they had quite a positive effect...
"Hmm… Great master. Okay, boy. I'll allow you to refer to me that way from now on, and you're right, I can't be cruel to my disciple's apprentice." Although she didn't notice it, Mei had a proud look on her face, she had already given up on the idea of taking Blake as a disciple, but she couldn't do anything if he created this kind of relationship.
Blake accepted the little compliment without issue; plus he was relieved that his little trick worked.
"Now, I see that you realized an important point, this is something deep, so I hope you pay attention to me." Blake understood that the information that would come next was quite valuable, so he sat down on the ground once he saw Mei do the same. "I think you already have some basic knowledge of runic abilities, though it doesn't surprise me, the information I'm about to tell you isn't something that most runics who are in the realm of runic awakening can take advantage of anyway."
That feeling that Mei conveyed when she said that made Blake's curiosity increase even more.
"In short, you should know that there are three types of runic abilities and they are divided as follows: General, Specific and Special." New concepts were entering Blake's head at the same time that Mei didn't take long to continue with her explanation.
What she had said was quite accurate, first of all, there were the general runic abilities, these could be said to be the most basic abilities someone can learn. Their operation as well as the level of understanding required made them the easiest to learn, in addition to having the characteristics that, when someone mastered them enough, they could adapt them to use different elements with it showing their different states and characteristics.
While the specific runic abilities were those that could only be performed using a single element since the effects they produced could not be recreated using another element. This case applied to the abilities that Ragna had shown since they did use of the life element in order to function properly.
Mei had explained that and it had been enough for Blake's question to be answered, but he was still curious about the last type…
