Marjorie saw the interaction between the two and couldn't help but smile too, she was aware of how they were feeling at that moment, so she didn't interrupt them. Seconds kept ticking by after that and the situation slowly calmed down to the point where Mei was able to pick up her story again.
"After that, the first thing I realized was that I was on a ship in the middle of the ocean and that someone had been taking care of my injuries all this time, the person responsible for it was the captain of the ship, she had been happy to see me awake and quickly began to tell me that she found me adrift in the sea on top of the trunk of a huge tree while some seagulls used me as a nest." Both Marjorie and Shino tried to imagine that scene, and they couldn't help but think that it was funny. "I remembered that the confrontation had happened near the coast, so it did not seem strange to me, but it also made me wonder how I was still alive."
"Well… Maybe you were lucky. As you said, it was obvious that this show would not go unnoticed, and from what I remember, the empire sent the dragon knight legion, but especially, the wizard saint was also involved, possibly they realized that the force of those responsible for that disaster wasn't just anything." Marjorie said while Mei nodded thinking about a situation that ended with her being thrown into the sea in the middle of the chaos.
Already just with the fact that the wizard saint, who was a Six-rune wizard, was a force to be reckoned with, but the legion of dragon knights was not something that could be ignored, even the weakest of them is so strong as a runic in the middle runic realm.
This was easy to explain, although anyone who could enter the runic path was known by the term "Runic", that did not prevent other places from having different names for them, especially the main legions and knights of different kingdoms and empires would practice the runic path, but would always choose to identify themselves as knights and soldiers rather than runic.
"And what happened after that, master?" Shino also understood the situation, but she was still more interested in the development of the story.
"Well, I still had some potions and treasures with me, although my injuries were quite serious, at least I was able to reduce the burden on my body. Later I found out that I was on a merchant ship and it was heading to Uruz… Back then I had no way to go back and show my face in front of the major Marjorie, so I just let the waves themselves dictate my future." Marjorie denied to herself despite everything, she couldn't help but think how foolish Mei was back then. "Several days passed while I recovered and put my feelings in order, as long as Shino was with the major I had nothing to worry about, so it was already planned my next step."
It seemed that the denouement was yet to come, so Marjorie and Shino did not stop paying attention.
"It was the first time I was in Uruz, so my knowledge of the region was minimal, luckily the captain of the ship was kind enough to explain the distribution of the land and give me some maps and indications that would be useful to me, after that I said goodbye to her but not before giving her several runic crystals that were still with me, she had taken them trembling and then laughed at the top of her lungs while saying that with that she could live three lives without worrying about working again." Mei clearly remembered that and wondered how was that person who had helped her a lot that time. "In the end, I reached the nearest region and found out that I was in the kingdom of Norad, which was quite remarkable."
Mei looked at both of them for a bit before continuing to speak.
"When I realized it, a whole year had already passed, actually maybe I had had some luck since I caught the attention of someone who was part of the messaging department after I flew out several guys who did not stop pestering in a restaurant that I was visiting, so I got a job after wandering around various places for a while." Marjorie and Shino nodded as they were aware that this would be a perfect job for Mei.
Even though anyone with common sense couldn't link Mei to a job that involved handling trade and messaging across the different kingdoms and regions of the world, all of that changed when the other aspect of the messaging department was clearly explained.
In addition to its main work mentioned above, the messaging department fulfilled the role of being a kind of guild, it had the objective of publishing tasks or requests that many people needed help from someone else, some people lived specifically doing this type of work, and the messaging department appreciated and supported people to lend a hand for it, in addition to the fact that the department already had its workers to solve all that, anyone could apply to try to carry out the orders, that was a very popular kind of job all over the world, which made that aspect of the messaging department gain a lot of fame over the years.
In reality, the messaging department was even as old as various beings that hide from the world, very few were certain when it emerged, but since then, it has been gaining strength to even be the main ruler in the economic aspect of Futhark, but considering the role of the guild it also performed, and all the powerful beings that were part of it and benefited it, its influence was even on the same terms as the strongest kingdoms and empires in the world…
