The space element runes accumulated for a second and then dispersed inside the top floor of the building that made up the town pharmacy. The figures of three women appeared out of nowhere and these obviously belonged to Marjorie, Shino, and Mei.
There was a wooden table with several chairs around it in what appeared to be the dining room, various plants could be seen adorning the interior in addition to the detailed design of Marjorie's home. She had wasted no time and took a seat on one of the chairs as a teapot that was giving off a pleasant aroma suddenly flew towards her as well as several cups making use of her wind magic showing her ability at it.
Mei seemed to have recovered from the above, although if anyone could look closely, you would notice that a small lump had appeared on her head. Both Mei nor Shino didn't ask any questions, they slowly moved forward while choosing one of the chairs and watching as one of the cups appeared in front of them being filled by the floating teapot.
The slight smell of the tea made them relax enough despite the situation they were in, Shino didn't feel particularly nervous, but it was the opposite for Mei since she knew what was next.
They both felt how the space underwent a small change, but when they saw Marjorie, everything was clear to them.
"Well, we have tea, a nice place, and an isolated space... Besides, there's plenty of time at our disposal to talk comfortably." Marjorie said calmly as she tasted from the cup in her hand.
A silence fell after her words, both Shino and Mei were also tasting the tea in an attempt to remain silent for as long as possible, but Marjorie was not going to let the girls in front of her get away with it.
"It's been five decades since you disappeared without saying a word, leaving all the work to me and feeling like you've thrown away my confidence." The seriousness in Marjorie's voice had not disappeared in all this time, and it was even more noticeable with everything she had just said.
"Major Marjorie, I am aware that I will never be able to repay the kindness that you showed both me and Shino at that time, it would have been very easy for you to simply ignore us and leave us to our own devices, but…" Mei had begun to Letting out many words that were always been on her mind through the years, many times she thought she could say them without any problem, but it seemed that Marjorie didn't need to listen to her.
"There were three decades, three decades in which I had to be attentive to any movement on your beloved island and the annoying runics that entered the continent looking for their traces even under the stones, you must be thankful that I decided to keep a low profile, if it were the I of my youth, I would not have hesitated to wipe those foolish old men off the face of the world to save myself all the trouble." Marjorie's annoying voice was quite noticeable, plus the feeling of death escaping from her body was enough to make Both Shino and Mei lower their heads unconsciously.
"I know, even with a hundred of my lives, I wouldn't be able to show you how grateful I am for everything, Major Marjorie. Even for having compassion for those who brought us to this situation, but..." Mei continued to express herself as best she could, and would also help a bit Shino.
"Despite everything, that the place it's our native land and there are still people we can't cut ties with, I really speak for myself and my master, you don't know how grateful we are to you." Shino didn't remember the times she had said this to Marjorie, but this time it carried an even deeper meaning.
"Enough, I don't want to hear those meaningless words, nor do I care how many of their lives I might take, I just want to hear something, and once I hear it, I'll be satisfied, so… what's your choice, girl?" Mei felt how Marjorie's gaze focused on her, now she understood that Marjorie didn't need unnecessary words, she knew that her annoyance was her fault, and after reconsidering several times, she knew that she could only say a few simple words.
"I… I'm sorry…" Those words seemed like they were more difficult to express than anything else, but it seemed like that was just what Marjorie expected.
"Okay, I accept your apology."
"Eh?" That expression of confusion was expressed by both Shino and Mei, they were sure that several hours of scolding from Marjorie awaited them, but after they heard her words and saw how her expression changed until it became that of a smiling old lady, they did not know what to think.
"It's good to see you again, girl, hehe." Even though Marjorie was really upset, that anger was gone the moment she was able to crash her broom on Mei's head, she didn't want the situation to become so serious, but she was sure that if she didn't act like this, Mei would never say the words she wanted to hear for a long time.
"Same here, Major Marjorie…" Despite everything, Mei felt the need to explain herself. "At that time, I knew what I was up against, but I had made my decision, I knew that you would not allow me to do it, but the problems I had caused were already too many."
"That's why I always say that runics are airheads, throwing away their life as if they were worth nothing." Marjorie did not agree with her words, but that did not matter at that moment. "At least, it is good that you are still alive."
"Yes, maybe fate wasn't as cruel as I thought." Mei had a pensive look as she reminisced.
"Although, I must say that what you did took a bit of work... I just hope that if there is a next time, you can at least say goodbye." Marjorie said that last also remembering that day, but quickly shook her head making those memories they went to the back of her mind. "Anyway, let's put all that aside for now, better tell me, how was your stay in Uruz?"
